Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

BB, are you complaining about length again?

Yes. :D

Is this the portrait dock? I saw a car dock tonight in-store for the GN....ewww  I would really like the landscape dock when it's available.

No. Its the Verizon charging dock.

BB, why are you still stuck here? I never see you posting in the Nexus threads. There was even a guy who said he was leaving for a 4S!
Anyway, good to see all you kind folks still getting along. I finally unlocked/rooted yesterday with Paul's Superboot. Took the longest to root than any other Android I've had (why don't they just sell the Nexus' unlocked?). Got some help from the great Mods over there since my drivers were borked.
Have a great day all! :)

I'm not stuck here. I haven't needed to leave because all the info I need is here. We have rooting and unlocking info, the daily RSRSS where I get articles that are helpful or fun or both. And its the lounge so we can talk about whatever we want. :)
Plus, I have been using the app so I just go to my subscribed threads. Its too much of a pain to look at other areas on the app.

EDIT: Never mind, no one helped me and so I continued to let it sit at the bootloader screen until just a moment ago when I hit the power button. Fortunately that triggered a normal boot this time and it seems to be OK.

Please Help!!

I bought an extended battery tonight and put it into my phone about an hour ago. It went into the bootloader with the message "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!". Its been stuck like that ever since. Should I be worried? What should I do?

I did that the other day. I also did it again last night. A battery pull solved it. I also figured out HOW I did it and I bet you did the same thing.
When you powered on the phone you had it in your hand and as you pressed the power button with your thumb your middle finger gripped the phone harder and pressed the volume rocker down. Voila, you have now entered Odin Mode.
Am I right? Or did find a second way to do it?

Morning everyone!

So you've tried th3ry's zygot 4.0.3 rom? ICS sounds and keyboard stock as well. I'm pretty sure kejar's 0.2.3 is as well.

Honestly i really don't care for theory roms... o wait I mean th3ory lol. He was a big thunderbolt dev and my phone never liked his stuff. But I really don't care for developers who push stuff out with little or no modification above stock and call it something special. That's why I love Pete and CM. Pete makes stock and tweaks it. No themes, or other installed BS. CM has that good stuff but just works properly.... I just don't particularly care for all the kangs in the dev section of the forums.

-3nd rant :)-P)

O yeah on XDA someone got a version of CM dialer with the mod that searches contact names and numbers when typing the numbers. Works great in Pete's rom

Here you go Mr Stigy.... This was after waking up this morning. After I unplugged it last night before going to sleep, never touched it again. Only thing i had this morning was a Gmail notification, also this is with camera force closed... Wifi on all night in 3g

Awake time for Android OS was right around 33 minutes

I've heard reports that the extended battery door actually makes the contour of the phone even more ergonomic and comfortable for the hand.

I couldn't agree more with this. I got my extended battery yesterday, and as soon as I put it in, the phone just felt better. I find it much easier to hold now, and the extra weight of the battery makes the phone feel a bit more solid as well. I did get the original battery door to fit, but it was sketchy, and I just like the way the extended battery cover makes the phone fit my hand.

Now to see how much battery life I gain from it. I was down to about 60-65% after 9 hours at the office with no 4G reception on the original battery (4G off, Wifi on, Bluetooth off, GPS on). That was with standard office use - occasional personal email checking, games to kill some time, browser use, the usual, nothing too heavy. Today I'll be leaving 4G on just to see how it handles searching for a signal, and tomorrow I'll revert back to my standard office settings.

Has there been progress on the battery issues?

Morning everyone!
Frankly, I think Verizon could have made this the default battery. I can't imagine anybody would have complained.
No, no one would have complained, but then Verizon wouldn't have made as much money from everyone paying $25-50 extra.

Whoa, this is crazy - the same thing happened to me! I thought I must have been accidentally holding a button to launch it into bootloader mode, but I guess I wasn't! Yeah, after putting in my extended battery, my phone also booted into bootloader mode; after a minute, I hit the power button and it launched like usual. I then turned it off and back on again and had no issues. Was going to make a post here about it, but ended up not. Still, I'm glad I'm not the only one to have the issue.

Seems like there is a data outage although I am back to 3G service now. Anyone else seeing this?

Now that you mention it, no, I couldn't get any 4g this morning on the way in....
Actually, come to think of it, I haven't gotten 4G yet today either. Strange.

Anybody here use Google Books? I'm having a problem with mine that I can't figure out.
Nah, I prefer Aldiko.

I know I haven't been much help to the network. My data usage has gone from 300MB/mo to about 3GB in the past week alone now that I've got 4G.

Still blows me away that my dinky town of a few thousand has 4G service. I had been pulling between 20-35Mb/sec down and 8-22Mb/sec up.

I've only seen the 4g icon show up twice. Once in the mall when I bought my phone and once at Target. Both are in the same town. I hope it comes to me soon. I love how speedy everything gets.
