Help If I buy from Amazon who warranties the phone?

If I buy my phone from Amazon I'm guessing that I cannot take it to a Verizon store for an exchange if there's warranty problems? Where if I buy it from a VZ store I just bring it back to them, right?

I'm not talking about the 14 day thing, I'm referring to general warranty issues for the first year

Read Amazon's agreement. They probably have a grace period where you are supposed to get all warranty work done through them. I think Wirefly had a 90 day period where all warranty claims had to go through them. Their fine print indicated that if you went to Verizon or HTC for warranty claims, that they would charge you $300 as a sort of "Early Termination Fee". Google "Amazon Wireless Customer Support" and see if there's an 800 number for you to call.

I bought a phone from Amazon last year and warranty was handled by verizonwireless after normal return period. Phone had a defect after 7 months and no problem getting exchange from verizon.

That's why I like dealing with a nearby corp. VZ store. They take care of it right there, I think

I don't mind paying more for less hassle and better service. But we're talking about $150 vs $300, that's HALF off. At some point, I am willing to take the risk to save a substantial amount of money.

I bought mine a few days after launch and since a billing cycle just closed out before my purchase, I was able to wait 1 billing period before payment due. Hell, I think a payment isn't due to be drafted out of my account until the first part of Jan. Not bad IMO, buy a phone and don't pay for it until next year! ;)

And if you live in California, Regulation 1585 of the state code on sales and use taxes specifies that all cell phones will be taxed at the full retail amount, regardless of the price paid as part of a special offer.
In other words, if you buy a Rezound in the state of California, you will pay sales tax on $799 (not $150).

I try to buy everything on Amazon.
Screw California

I bought the rezound on launch day, and upgraded from the thunderbolt.
Last week I called VZW to get a replacement thunderbolt cause the charging port was bad.
they told me I had to deal with HTC cause I forfitted my HTC warranty when I bought the rezound.
I called HTC and asked what the turn around time was, he said at least 3 Weeks.

I would only buy a phone from VZW just so I knew I had a replacement with in a few days.

I think I missed something, but how did buying a Rezound kill the warranty on your Thunderbolt?
Or, did you lose the monthly Asurion coverage for the Thunderbolt by replacing it with the Rezound?

The monthly insurace coverage that I pay Verizon for ($6.99 per month for full idiot-proofing) is actually run by a company called Asurion. They are "blessed by", but not part of, VZW. I had my Droid 1 covered by them, and when I replaced it with my Rezound, my monthly fee now covers the Rezound, but not the Droid. Just as well, the Droid is now used in WiFi-only mode by my sons.
I bought my Rezound from Amazon, and signed up for the insurance on the Rezound while I ordered it. After 90 days, you can't expect a VZW store (corporate or not) to give you a replacement phone no matter where you bought it.

The 2 times I had a problem with the Droid 1, I called Asurion, and they overnighted an empty box to me, I used the pre-paid label to overnight it back to them, then I got a phone in a box one or two days after that. It sucked not having a phone, but I had an excuse for not answering my wife's calls.

when i called VZW to notify them that i needed a replacement, (for my thunderbolt that i bought from them online on launch).
they told me that the phone was still under warranty, but i had to deal with HTC in order to have my phone replaced or repaired.

they proceeded to say this was the case because if i were to have a replacement device sent to me it would be the Rezound, cause that is the current device that is activated on my line.
i asked if i would put the sim back into the TB if i could then get a replacement cause the TB would show up on my account.

but they told me it would not work that way, cause i forfeited my Thunderbolt warranty with VZW when i purchased and activated the Rezound.

it does not matter about the Assurion insurance, cause i no longer have the insurance on the TB, it is now on the Rezound.

anyways i called VZW 4 different times and got the same answer everytime. i just said the hell with it and had a local guy fix the charge port for $30.00
