Help HELP! Market Is Automatically Downloading All Apps

Just booted up my new Galaxy Nexus, and as soon as the setup process completed, the phone began downloading every app I had downloaded on my previous phone. I've never had this happen before with my past Android phones. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to turn it off? I had absolutely not interest in this happening.

Bump, someone has to know what I'm talking about.

In the "Backup and Reset" settings, I unchecked, "Automatic restore." Can anyone confirm if this was the reason for the auto-installs? The description makes it sound like it's just data, but after powering down and up again, this time the Market didn't finish downloading the remaining apps I stopped earlier.

The apps restoring is normal. This happened to me when I first started flashing ROMs on my old phone, and again when I got my nexus. The setting you unchecked seems like the setting you want to prevent it from doing that again in the future.

it happens with everyone one of my devies (Incredible, Nexus, Galaxy Tab 10.1), just go to My Apps in the market and press stop. it only happens when you boot up for the first time

Usually that is what I do also, but this time my internet connection is so fluid that its now downloaded about 35 apps and it still hasnt loaded the 'my apps' page which has the stop button on it.

Why on earth would Android allow Play Store to download apps automatically without prompt, without waiting for a wifi connection, and without any way to stop it except for trying to squeeze down the same connection that its using 100% of???
Surely thousands of people have blown out their 3g data allowance and incurred monolithic bills because of this already??

Android is so clever in so many ways, and then they boggle my mind when they allow such incredibly counter intuitive and antisocial behavior.

Any other way to solve this short of factory reset and tell google account that i dont want anything backed up?? (i DO want everything backed up by google, but I want to be ASKED before everything automatically restores (der)). I can turn 3g and/or wifi off to halt the downloads, but then when i turn it back on it downloads apps again far quicker than i can load the 'my apps' page of play store... ie. ive been waiting 10 minutes for the page to load now and it still isn't loading but playstore is madly downloading 2 apps at a time in my notifications.
