Default Hide Post' Thanks Box

So I would like to see a feature where if there are over a certain number of rows of Thanks, that it just shows one or two row of thanks. It gets REALLY annoying when the whole screen is almost full of thanks and you need to scroll through all of them to get to the 2nd post. This is especially true with Guides that members make like this one: http://androidforums.com/android-applications/36936-how-safe-find-trusted-apps-avoid-viruses-guide-those-new-android.html

XDA has the Post Thanks Box completely hidden but I find that really annoying if only a few people thank them and you need to open the box to see who else thanks them.

I would say a couple of rows and if you want to see who else thanks the post, you can expand it to be bigger. Majority of the posts out there have only a handful of thanks, so about 2 or 3 rows depending on the names of the members that gave the thanks.

I realized one reason why the thanks box is so big is because of the date format, which is sometimes longer than the name itself!

Maybe 1 row then a "[..more]" link that drops down the rest of the thanks?

No update yet, I'm not sure the dev even checks the suggestion forum without being prompted by Rob, and last week he was focused on the bugs. I will ask to have him move into there on his next round.

Sorry to resurrect this older suggestion, but I just found it when I started making my own suggestion - and while not related o my suggestion, I do have a comment to make about it....

I know Roze is suggesting a set number of rows, and then maybe a more button, but the date thing may be making it worse (could the user name be linked to a pop up that shows the date upon hover your mouse over the username?) I'd really like to see this as well since there are numerous threads and posts here and there that get thanked by tens and even hundreds of people, and wading through such a resource can be a bit daunting....

Well, I was for it until I realized I used the number of thanks visible when scanning threads as to know what to look at when doing quick scans. And, I've seen other members mention doing that - so now I hate to take away that functionality..

The collapsed Thanks bar should say, '# people thanks this post. And there's a button 'expand for details'. Make that big and red so it's easy to read. Please please please put this feature in!

*Bump* So Phases, would you re-consider to minimize the Thanks bar in a post?

ALP's thread (mentioned in the OP) has gotten more thanks and now it's over 3 screen pages of thanks!!!! Seriously, look at how long you need to scroll before you get to the SECOND post!!! It's ridiculous that the 721 thanks are all shown.

I and I suspect others use that to gauge how positive a response the community gives to something. I like that is shows them all! ..It took way less time to go through the thanks than it did the actual post itself though.

I'm not sure how quite to do what your asking while still having some sort of indicator besides just the number to show more and more thanks adding up. Maybe the 'the following xxxx number of users say thanks" can have the xxxx grow bigger and more red as more thanks add up, while it is hidden.

But something like that, or even just all after some number, might be kinda painful to do.

It would be easier to include a collapse button at the top of the list of thanks that you can click when you see a large amount coming, to hide them.

Heck, I like see lots of thanks though. Is it just me?

I don't really care if they are in the 10s...but when then are in the 100s I just find that it's annoying. As in my original post, show some thanks...but it's still ridiculous to show the 721 and counting thanks.

Can you put a limit of like 20 thanks shown and *show # more thanks* and just hide the rest. Most posts don't have more than 20 thanks. It's just those very helpful ones...
