Rezound battery + Thunderbolt = awesome!

Ok, after sitting idle overnight (other than hourly weather updates) the phone was at 80% after 12 hours.

I listened to Pandora for an hour & a half and it only dropped 10%.

If you go to buy it from Verizon, don't sign in first. It's normally $39.99 but if you order it outside of your account it's $19.99. With shipping I got it for around $22.

I wonder if that sale is over because when I tried to buy it (logged out) it showed $39.99 and I couldn't get it to show the $19.99 no matter what I tried. So I logged in because I do get a discount on accessories, so I picked it up for $29.99 It's in my stocking right now, just waiting on Christmas. :)

But yeah, like someone else said AOSP roms help battery life so much.
I am running Liquid Smooth 3.2 and with 2 email accounts refreshing every 5 minutes, and 1 push exchange account, and a facebook widget updating every 5 minutes, and the beautiful widgets weather widget updating every 15 minutes, I still get decent battery life out of my stock battery.
But I am on WiFi about 70% of the day normally, so I think that helps a lot.

But I can't wait to start using my new Rezound battery.

I was surprised to see how small the stock battery was on this thing.
I think my imagio had a slightly larger capacity.

I had upgraded my imagio to the 3200 mAh with the larger cover which I didn't mind because it made it easier to hold onto. (I dropped that phone all the dang time before that).
With that extended batter my imagio would almost last all day with heavy internet use vs barely making it to lunch time.

With my TB I can't even make it to lunch time if I use it heavy.
Of course the screen is larger, the processor is twice as fast and with 4G I'm using more data.

Anyway. I'd LOVE a 3200 mAh for this TB but I have that nice three piece protective cover from Best Buy that I love. I'd have to literally dremel a square hole out of the back of it if I wanted to use that huge battery. :-(

Bummer.

I'm surprised you are seeing much of a difference with that slightly better than stock capacity battery.

You guys will laugh, but right now I sometimes use a car charger plugged into a DeWalt drill battery kept in my tool bag!
As I am going around fixing things I will plug the phone in for a little while here and there. It works. :)

I have done zero mods for battery life.
I am kind of suspecting that leaving facebook open in the browser may be causing it to send background data every minute or so.

Cool idea! It is a 12V battery right?

I'm in the same boat. I'd love the functionality of a 3200mah battery, but it would make my sexy phone really ugly. Plus I keep my phone in my pocket so I don't want people looking at me like "hey, is that the new Seidio 3200mah extended battery, or are you just happy to see me?" :)

Maybe the Thunderbolt stock battery is overrated a little, and the Rezound battery underrated.
But it is 15% bigger even if the tags are correct, and that isn't insignificant.
If you were getting around 8 hours out of the stock battery, you get a little over an extra hour with the Rezound battery. It's not a huge difference, but it's not a huge battery either. And personally I don't want a huge battery. I want huge power out of a small battery.

To me, phones are fast enough, and capable enough. Let HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, Nokia and everyone else out there start working on coming up with a better battery than the Lithium Ion batteries. Once they invent the next generation of batteries, then they can get back to phone making. That would not only help the phone industry but pretty much every industry.

The only battery worth a damn for this phone is the OEM 2750mAh extended battery.

I couldn't be happier with the rezound battery. It may not be like an extended battery but battery life is like it SHOULD have been to begin with. With the Rezound battery the TB moves from subpar battery life to right up there with typical smart phone battery life. Making it thru a typical work day ect is no longer a problem. whatever the paper numbers say its night and day for me, especially stand by performance.

A 200 mAh bump does not take things from being subpar to being able to make it through a full day.

The only battery that will get you through a full day of heavy use is the 2750.

yes its great (actual much better than the numbers on paper suggest), however its been discussed to death on here and every other TB forum: http://androidforums.com/htc-thunderbolt/443933-htc-thunderbolt-meet-rezound-1620mah.html

and I signed in to My Verizon when I bought mine and it was still $19.99 once I hit check out.
1620mAh? That's nothing to write home about. I just got my T-bolt 2 weeks ago and got the extended 2750mAh (free mind you) with a nice silicone cover. The thing is like the Energizer bunny. On top of that, rather it be home, work, or car, it's always plugged in anyway so no matter how much use it gets I NEVER have problems with battery life.

I already quantified everything you said (in bold below). I'm not sure if your rooted or not but I am also running Imo's lean kernel set on extreme (undervolting) with additional undervolting using Incredicontrol app. Overclocked at 1.4Ghz running Sense 3.5. Whatever the case I leave home fully charged. go to work playing music for the 35 minute drive coming and going via radio input, play plenty of games (at least an hours worth or deathworm, zombieville, angry birds or asphalt 6), text off and on virtually the whole work day, make about 30 minutes worth of calls, use the browser a few times ect which leaves just enough time to actually work and come home with typically 40-50 left. Matter of fact the ONLY time I probably cant make it (never tried though) is streaming NFL mobile redzone/8pm game or netflix. those are the only activities I plug it in for on a typical 10hr round trip work day and those two apps are only used on weekends..

Making it thru a typical work day ect is no longer a problem. whatever the paper numbers say its night and day for me, especially stand by performance.

Well, you are one person and pretty much everyone here who has tried the Rezound battery (myself included) would disagree with you. No one is saying you can sit and play games on your phone for hours on end and still get through an 8 hour work day without any problems. But can I make 5 or 6 calls, and send about 5 - 10 emails, and maybe update an app or two, and check facebook a few times during an 8 hour work day and at the end of the work day still have 40% or more left. You bet! Could I do that with the stock battery? No.

I charge all night long, every night. So when I get up to go to work, I have 100% everyday. And on my 45 minute drive to work, my phone is streaming Slacker radio the whole way, but it is also plugged into a car charger, so when I get to work it is still at 100%. When I get in my car to go home, I have around 50% or so. I plug it in and listen to Slacker all the way home. when I get home I might have 65% or so (it doesn't charge as fast, since I'm streaming audio at the same time). And that easily gets be through the rest of the day, and I use my phone more in the evenings than I do at work, playing games, updating apps, facebooking, taking pictures of my kids, etc. When I plug it in at night it usually has about 35 - 45% left.

So while I am certain that I could get more life out of a 2750mah battery, my 1620mah battery gets the job done, and it doesn't make my phone ugly, so I am happy with it. And I wouldn't trade it for a 2750mah given the chance.

I'm glad you are happy with your 2750mah. :)

I think it goes without saying that anyone with the tbolt knows the battery sucks! Ive only had mine since july and by the time i reached last week, the battery got so bad it would only hold a charge for about 3 1/2 hours. After reading the suggestion about using the Rezound battery i went out and bought one yesterday. I fully charged it and it has been 26 hours of being unplugged with HEAAAVVVY use of internet, wi-fi and GPS, and i STILL have 10% left! Im so happy i saw the suggestion to use this battery, it beats the hell out of buying the extended one!
