Help Known issues with the Galaxy Nexus

There's an issue with calendar entries in the stock calendar app - it won't let you scroll the description field to view the full entry description. This is particularly annoying for work Exchange accounts, which often contain valuable conference bridge dial-in numbers in the description. I've managed to move the description field *a little* by moving my finger right and left while I scroll, but that's hardly user friendly and it still just barely works.

I submitted a bug report to Google, and would appreciate it if folks start starring it to get it attention:
Issue 23366 - android - Calendar entry descriptions not scrollable in Android 4.0.2 - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Anyone else have a loose headset jack or something going on? Feels very cheap and makes the music go in and out....unacceptable...I will definitely be returning for the rezound or razr if this is not just an isolated problem. Also, no FM radio comes with the phone? WTH..I know I can download a tune in app or something, but all phones should have this including and HDMI port...

See... this happened to me, but then I realized the cord was only partially plugged into the slot. Not to say that's your issue too, but did you press firmly on the aux cord to ensure it was clicked in all the way? With my TPU case on, it really did appear to be plugged in fully until I slid the case over a millimeter and realized it wasn't. Just an idea! Sorry if it's not the fix! Next place I would look would be to exactly which app you used to play it... try a couple different ones and see if the issue persists.

Thanks for the suggestion. I confirmed that my headphone jack is firmly seated. I even tried a second set of headphones. The ringer/notification audio plays through the external speaker even when headphones are plugged in.

The only work-around I've found is to use Tasker. I set up an event that turns down the ringer/notification volume whenever headphones are plugged in. And it reverts the sound back to normal when the headphones are removed. Next, I added events for incoming call, text message, and email to play sounds through the media stream (the media stream seems to behave correctly when headphones are plugged in - only playing sound through the headphones). Anyway, it's a hack but it will keep me going until this bug is resolved. I've got to give a big thumbs up to Tasker, it is a pretty powerful little app.

(Non-rooted 4.0.2 ICS, Default settings [at least ones that may be related to rendering graphics])

Is anyone experiencing this problem? My phone is super fast, everything seems fresh and snappy as I'd expect. Except... I'm starting to see a "stutter" or "lag" after pressing a selection in a settings menu (The typical dark background and blue illuminated highlight) I don't really notice it in 3rd party apps, just everything Google.

For example, I go into settings and click sound. As it highlights blue it seems to stutter on the fade out / fade into the new screen. It's only a half second delay, but its enough that it's noticeable.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Well "me", if that is your real name, lol... I agree about Tasker - absolutely terrific app. And I'm glad you found a work-around for now. As for anyone who is considering taking the phone back because of little issues during the first week and a half of the phone's launch, that's your decision and you're more than entitled to it. As for me, any issues-big or small-that I've found are definitely not "deal breakers" in my eyes. With 4.0.3 sure to be released soon, I'm expecting many of these little things to be corrected. I don't think there is a phone out there that will get the kind of support from Google as the Nexus will, so just keep that in mind as you switch back to older devices. As the updates become few and far between during the 18-month window the other phones have, the Nexus will most likely be receiving more and more. But, you're the one stuck looking at the phone day in and day out, so if you don't want to wait to see what the next couple updates have in store, that's understandable. I'll definitely be waiting, but that's easy for me to say, as I have had barely any issues and my only complaints are minute in comparison to some of the problems I've read on here.

OK I am having a problem with autosync, and it seems like some others have it as well, but I've not seen it mentioned in this thread.

It seems like auto syncing just doesn't work for me at all. I thought at first that light flow was broken, then I realized that light flow couldn't be giving me notifications because my phone didn't even realize I had new emails. I manually synced >30 minutes ago and it still hasn't autosynced since then. I don't know the normal frequency of syncing, but I assume it should be faster than that. I even restarted the phone and it didn't sync after it started back up.

FWIW I am rooted, and sadly I didn't really notice if it was syncing properly before I did it. I did get a few notifications, but I don't know how frequently it was going because I don't get all that many texts/emails.

Another potential problem is that I have a lot of apps that I'm afraid might be interfering, so I'm gonna test what happens if I uninstall them. Light Flow and Juice Defender are at the top of my list...

Anyone else having problems with auto sync?

Has anyone tried airplane mode yet? I put mine in A.M. today and I couldn't get it out. Had to reboot, after which it got a signal no problem. Not sure if this was an isolated incident or a widespread problem.

Had this same issue. Took forever to reconnect to data.

Would be nice if there was 1 click access to airplane mode in the widget instead of clicking through 3 screens

I had Handcent installed but deleted it because I thought it just wasn't ready for ICS yet. I still can't send or receive MMS through the stock app but noticed this is only with Wi-Fi on. As soon as I turn Wi-Fi off the images send.

Looking in the forums I see several with this issues but no one else testing with Wi+Fi on or off.
I never realized I had this problem too, but I think it is a problem with ICS and how it handles the Wifi. My friend and me can't send or receive MMS while on Wifi either. So I think the phone isn't properly turning on 3g/4g to do that while Wifi is on...

However, my girlfriend can't send or receive them on Wifi OR 3g/4g without getting force closes... Weird issue. Trying to get Verizon to reset her texting plan now and then if that doesn't work then we will have to get a replacement unit...

Some apps that put a lot of different colored backgrounds, especially trouble colors and some black and white - gray gradients etc.

I found that turning my screen up to full brightness on white and leaving the screen on for 20 minutes actually reduced the amount of blue present... might have to do this some more tomorrow.
That might explain why the store phone that I tested looked perfect in low brightness. I have a light to very light banding, so I might try your method before I try an exchange.

Edit: Oh, if I do an exchanged, can the store transfer my apps and setting to the new phone or do I need to go through installing all my apps and setting them up again. I do not mind installing the apps, but it is such a hassle to export setting and to import then into the new phone.

UPDATE: uninstalling Light Flow/ Juice Defender didn't seem to have any effect, although I noticed that Reader seems to auto sync every hour, but none of my other Google apps do. Neither does Skype.
Go into Settings->Accounts & sync and check if your Google account is set up to sync.

Sync can also be shut off through the control widget.

yeah everything is set to sync, that's how I can tell the last sync was 3 hours ago for everything. If I use the widget to turn auto-sync off and then on again then it'll sync at the moment, but it won't actually sync on its own. Except for Reader, which is weird.

I think I'm gonna try unrooting next and see if that fixes it.

good afternoon. long time lurker on here. was following the long Gnex for quite some time. finally got the phone on monday :)

unfortunately there were some problems with my gnex and i had to bring into the store. it was purchased directly from verizonwireless btw.

the phone was acting weird on me yesterday. it was doing random reboots throughout the day. then last night i was playing videos on youtube and all of sudden the phone restarted on me. it continued to do so for about 5 mins. it would boot up, and then restart. once it was done with its 'seizures', i tried going back into youtube and playing the video. now this time the video would play, but no sound! tried other videos but still nothing. and no i didnt have the phone on vibrate or silent either. i went into settings, sounds, and had the media tab turned all the way up! no sound was being produced though.

i also tried making an outgoing call but could not hear anything. the call was connected but no ringtone or anything

brought the gnex into the store today and they gave me a new phone. anyone else have problems like this? only apps i had installed was lightflow lite, weather widget, and a couple basic apps like facebook, pandora, etc.

So Im even more confused about my problem now. As I stated earlier when I pull out of the driveway and wifi disconnects it also turns off my mobile network connection. To add to the confusion my truck radio also has bluetooth. I left the house earlier and the issue didn't happen (first time ever) but while I was gone I turned the bluetooth off for a different reason and bam it also disconnected my mobile data. So Im not sure if my issue is bluetooth or wifi related. Gonna turn off bluetooth before I get in the truck in the morning and see if I have the same issue when I drive out of wifi range. Will report back....

I've got the same wifi issue. If I leave wifi on and then leave my house or work and try to connect to the internet/market/on star app it says no connection. I checked within the settings and the data enabled over mobile network is still checked, but it's not actually working.

How's about the poor quality control on the screen? I'm on my third nexus from 3 different stores and they all have some sort of coloration on the screen. First was awful, had banding. Second the whole top half was pale blue against white background.
My third still has blue in the bottom right hand corner but compared to the other two it was bearable. Everyone i know with a nexus has some sort of green, blue, or red coloration somewhere on your screen. Look for it, low light, white background. Once you see it you can't unsee it.

I have to say the screen is the biggest disappointment with this phone. I see people saying it's the best screen ever and I shake my head. I don't think those people have seen many screens.

If it's not up to full brightness (sucks the battery) then the screen looks mediocre. The Rezound has a much better screen.

I've had my Nexus for a few days now and the only problem I've had so far is when I'm using the stock browser. Several times while on the internet the phone will just shutoff for no reason and I have to turn the phone back on.
It seems this maybe be a software issue and I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem.
