Motorcycle riders --- Mounting question

I've seen a few people out there with motorcycles in their profile pics, what are you using as a mount? AF Member DSCR suggested RAM Mounts, which he uses for his GPS but we aren't sure if it will take a GNexus.

Whatever I get will need to be pretty sturdy.... I've got a cammed out Harley and she shakes like crazy when I'm at a stop light.

I don't have my pictured Shadow any more, I picked up a CBR900RR :D

I haven't decided if I will do this with my GNex yet, but with my Incredible I simply took some industrial strength velcro, placed the plastic harder side on the top of my tree and the softer side on the back of my case. I don't use a case for my phones so it didn't bother me to leave it on the case. The square patch of velcro is not that noticable on the tree. I probably would have never done this on my Shadow, that bike was stripped down, so I would imagine you might not do that with your HD.

As for strength, It never budged. Most likely because I have the farring blocking all wind, gotten up to 135mph with my Incredible safetly velcro'd in.

I rode yesterday with my phone in my pocket and it was strange not to have it mounted on top of the tree. Most likely I will do it, just have to buy a case.

Please let me know how you decide and post a pic so I can decide if I want to do the same.

I have a ram mount for a gps on my bike and that thing is awesome. Very secure and very sturdy.

I have one that clamps around the handle bar, that has a ball joint, then you put a little 4 inch arm onto that ball joint, then you can put any sort of holder on the other end that has a ball joint. Works great.

If I had anywhere that would not look like crap on my bike I would go this route with some marine quality velcro... my bike is very clean, though, and having a velcro patch anywhere would bug the daylights out of me. I'm not sure what else to do because I know bolting an arm to hold it up will look weird too.... BUT I do have a batwing faring on the bike so it may be barely noticeable. I'll need to get a better look at the device and will post pics and PM you guys when I make up my mind.

Exactlly how I thought you would feel, as I would if I still had my Shadow.

For me, I am also considering just using my phone as my gages with Ulysse Speedometer app and mount my phone in place of my gages. It would look slick but would also be a pain to mount and unmount.

Also thought about a small tank bag, but that uglies up the bike.

I like the ease of the mount on the handle bar but I also agree it would look a little odd.

I got mine mounted, bought a case and did the velcro again. I tried to do it on the tree but the Gnex is just too wide and wont fit. So I placed it were I decided to install my usb charger (yep, I installed a usb charger on my bike so that I can ride and not worry about my battery dying before making it home), works well for gps too :D I can't take credit for the usb charger, if anyone else is interested in doing it, HOW TO: Install a Charging USB Port on your Bike!!!! As of right now, the pictures on the link of the how-to-guide are not showing up, but the write up is great and easy to follow. Since the pictures aren't currently visible it does help to have a little understanding of basic wiring.

Thanks for posting the pics Romparoo! Looks clean and out of the way. I've got a cigarette lighter (factory standard) on my fairing so I was going to use that for my charger but I like the USB port! Thanks for that link too!

Turns out my only local reseller for the RAM mounts won't order one unless I buy it outright and won't allow me to return it if I don't like it so I'm in kind of a bind. I'll head out to some swap meets this month and will post some pics if I find anything.
