I was thinking of purchasing the Otterbox Defender Case for the GNex, but then I saw the price of it; $50. Pretty expensive for a case, and yes, I know the case is indestructible/bulletproof/etc. Do you guys think the case will get cheaper if I wait about a month? What are your opinions?

they don't seem to get very much cheaper until a device is almost at the end of it's life span. i personally can't stand them, but i also don't work in an environment that would require that level of protection. taking a beautiful, sleek device like the GNex and cramming it into that hulking case is like putting your supermodel girlfriend in a biohazard suit before you go out. :p

if the case IS a necessity for your lifestyle (which i can totally understand), i would go ahead and make the purchase. they are not going to be any cheaper in a month.

I see what your saying. It's a hard decision to make because I want to protect my $300 investment, even though I'm not in a hectic environment usually. Which case do you recommend getting? I like the Incipio Silicrylic, Diztronic case, and the Barely There Case a lot so those could be one of my choices.

i only use TPU cases (i.e. diztronic), however, i never get a brand name. i have found that the ones on ebay are exactly the same, and usually a few bucks cheaper. here is the one i'm using:

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

i also like the fact that there is no logo/name printed on the case. give it to me for free, and i don't mind being a walking advertisement for your company. if i'm paying, keep it off!

How are the volume rocker buttons on your case? Many complained it was very hard to use the volume rockers on the Diztronic.

they don't seem hard to use to me at all. of course, i ran the exact same case on my thunderbolt, so i may just be used to it. if it really bothers you, you could always cut away the part of the case covering the volume buttons with an exacto knife.

One last question; does the phone have a tight fit in the case? Example...taking out of your pocket, without the Gnex slipping out of the case.

Any recommendations on cases?

I am using the light blue tpu case from verizon and honestly really like it. It gives some nice added protection and not much bulk. Although I may remove it and go naked. Also used a incipio double case(they have them on verizon site) those work well too without adding much bulk. I use a case more as a precaution verse a need so it all depends if you need a lot of protection or just want something in case of a fall.

Being that my job is a bit rough on stuff (EMT/Firefighter). I always get Otterbox Defender cases for my phones. Usually, I get an Otterbox Commuter case to. I use the commuter cases for off duty use, and the defenders for work. I also like to use the defenders for winter months full time. Both of my winter coats have large pockets, so the defender is great. Over the weekend I'll be at two different Christmas parties and wearing nice clothes, so I'll use the commuter because it's easier to slip into normal pants pockets.

My dinc (bought on release day) still looks new with no problems, even after numerous fires and drops from ladders, because of an Otterbox Defender.
