Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Does Skype use the in call volume, or the media stream?

Skype uses the "in call volume".

Get a volume app that allows you to control the system volume.
A lot easier than digging into the settings all the time.

This didn't work unfortunately..

The main problem with this issue I have to remove my headset anytime I want to receive a call outside since the dialers low volume is easily overpowered by mild ambient noise. It's fine through the phone's speaker, but it's a pretty large inconvenience.

This may be a stupid suggestion, but since it apply exclusively to the dialer, maybe try a third party dialer? I use ex dialer, for example.

I tried this around the time I tried a few different volume apps, but it didn't help. It all leads back to the same call screen.

edit:

I appreciate all the advice btw.. Hopefully I can find a fix to this.

edit 2:

I tried it with a different head set and the result is the same.. There's a definite lack in volume using the regular dialer vs. skype with headsets.

When did this issue start? I mean, have you updated to the new rom yet?

I've updated to the rom provided in this thread.. I used everything except for the "green machine theme".

I noticed the issue today while making a call when leaving the post office.. I initially thought something might have been wrong with the other persons phone, but I made another call just to check and I confirmed there was an issue on my end.

It was a little windy and there was a light drizzle, but nothing that should have made me strain to hear the person on the other end.. This headset is pretty loud and I can definitely tune out the majority of the outside world using it.

edit:

I read some comments at the blog link and it seems I wasn't the only one experiencing the issue:

Hi ,
Your blog is very interesting and so good to read.
I have a small issues with CM7 custom ROM .
The IN-CALL volume through headphones is very low, However the music and all other sounds are perfect.
Do you have any idea abt this bug in CM?
Let me know if there is any particular fix for it. ?

You can try changing the DSP Manager settings. In DSP Manager select the headset setting and then Enable Equalizer.
You can use the preset as small speakers or configure a custom one.
For custom setting click on the graph and pull each point to maximum (10). This will increase the headphone volume. Select the level of volume according to your liking.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
I did some extensive googling before posting in the thread, so I already had tried the DSP manager advice, but it didn't work.

This does not work. I have Quick Settings and I still have to use the rocker-arm volume trick (up then down.. to prevent my eardrums from being blown out).

If memory serves... Jerry said this was a bug in the rom. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

There is a bug in the ROM, but he's already tried that trick. I'm starting to think it may be a bad flash, since it didn't start until he updated to 1221.
@Idun, did you check the md5 checksum? Your download might be a tad wonky.

Nope I definitely overlooked that when I was installing. I used the instructions from the "Simplified Root + Recovery + Custom ROM" thread to do the install.

Go back to Jerry's op in this thread, he has the checksum listed. If all else fails, redownload and reflash. Oh, make sure you aren't doing anything with your phone during the download. That greatly decreases the chance of a bad download. Or download on a pc then transfer the zip to your phone, thats what I always do.

What exactly do I do with the checksum number? I actually did the stuff in the OP and put it on the SD card.. Seemed a lot faster that way.

With the last three releases of your build I have been having an issue trying to get the V6 Supercharger and KAK scripts to stick. Or at least the scripts are saying they aren't sticking but are still showing up in the int.d folder. Any ideas?

We have not made any change that should affect V6, but we also don't support it's use. ;)
