Help Power Button Double Pressing?

We need more info, are you stock, rooted, what version ROM are you on, have you updated ?? the more info we have the better we and others can help.

Recently I've encountered this issue, my power button frequently double presses..so I'll press it to turn the screen off and it will turn right back on. What can I do to fix this?

Pull off the battery cover and put it back on with the power button / headphone jack side in first and then snap on the rest of the case. But even that won't fix it all the way. So what I do is try to push the right side of the power button. It's just that some phones have hyper sensitive power buttons and will send the button pushed command twice sometimes.

My phone's been doing this for a couple months. It happens regardless of ROM, and will even occur in recovery so it has to be a hardware issue. I took off the cover at one point and was hitting the button directly, so there's something going on with the switch (or related components).

Been too lazy to take it in. Usually it's not too big of an issue, but occasionally it'll happen 6 times in a row and that gets annoying.

To lazy to take it in to sprint as well plus I don't want a chance of them giving me a replacement because they can't fix it and I end up with an updated hboot. So to minimize my annoyance I started using the volume rocker mod where the volume up/down buttons wakes the phone up. I still have to hit the power button to turn off the screen but at least I am using the power button half as much which means I am now annoyed half as much.

I just started having this problem the day after the newest OTA update. I've had my phone since it was released, and never had this issue. I am not rooted. My wife got her phone at the same time, and she started having this problem a week or two before the latest update. No clue why it suddenly started happening. My phone pretty much lives in an Otterbox Defender case. I seldom open it. I thought maybe the case had shifted or something, so I took it off, but the problem still happens. Doesn't do it all the time, but often enough to be annoying. I suppose I could take it in to the Sprint store.

I've been having this happen for quite some time. My phone is stock but rooted and I have the first 2 updates, I think. I stopped doing the updates when they changed it to hboot 1.5 so I'm still on Android 2.3.3.

Anyway I just wanted to suggest that for anyone who is really annoyed by this, you may want to check out an app called Elixir 2 - Widgets. Its just the widgets for the Elixir app but it can be used as a standalone app. And there is a widget in there that you can use to turn the screen off and lock your phone. So it basically does what the power button does. If you want to use this particular widget you will also have to download the Elixir 2 - Admin Add-On but make sure you read the description for that. Both of those apps are free in the Android Market.

Mine does it only when turning on, and only occasionally. Mine has spend all its life in cases, recently the triden kraken, and now in a ballistic hc case, so I doubt it was caused by a drop.

I'll say this, unless my power button stops working entirely, ill keep my device. I went through 2 replacement EVO 4Gs because the ones I got as replacements were junk. Both had screen issues, lifting glass, dead pixels and such. Why can't htc get these screens right? I still have light leak on this 3d.

I noticed this a few weeks ago but thought it was me. Evo is standard with all updates but I notice it more when it is in landscape mode/docked etc and when turning off only.

It feels like I am doing a double click when it happens, its definately the button itself on mine. Doesn't bother me that much, I have learned to tap it and wait a half second while preparing to press it again to go off.
