so i try to root my brother's desire hd using advanced ace hack kit.
the process goes as follow.
at first,it ask to check the usb,sd damaged.recheck everything.
try again, everything works fine until s-on/s-off section, where an error occured.
press any keys to continue.

at the same time phone boots to recovery.
i thought this is a success until i hit
reboot system now.takes forever at htc logo.
place miui rom.change name to update.zip.
boot to recovery,install it.
cannot read or no files in update.zip.
try to rename the file to update only with automatic extension as .zip.
boot into recovery.
wipe cache partition.try to install update.(MIUI ROM)SUCCESS!
reboot now.
still HTC LOGO.takes forever.
now i realize it is something to do with the s-on because

ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot

what should i do? is my phone rooted? i can enter the recovery and flash custom
rom but it takes forever at htc logo.
please help is this a serious problem?
thanks in advance

not sure if this is at all relevant,
but, i had a bit of trouble with aahk first time around.

"Alternate downgrade is available for machines that do not work properly with fastboot and get stuck on "sending zip" or "waiting for device" by selecting "t" (for toggle flash method) at the menu."

this worked for me

sorry, can you give some detailed direction for me to follow through ?
does that means i can re run the ace hack kit for the second time eventhough my phone stays at htc logo?

thank you for the reply.
i just want to know can i revert back to the stock roms?
and can you please give some more details about using the ubuntu livecd?
sorry,a noob here:D

Try Andys suggestion first. If that doesn't work, head here: Download | Ubuntu to download Ubuntu. There are instructions on the page for putting it on to CD. From there, boot your PC with the CD in the drive and it should boot into Ubuntu for you (it won't actually install anything). Run the hack kit again using the instructions in the manual.

As an aside, it's probably not advisable to rename the ROM zip file update.zip unless it tells you too in the instructions.

Also, looking at the first error you got, did you change the USB Cable or the SD Card?

i had tried using other cables and sd card.
it stuck and said problem problem problem
**sd card is either damaged or not mounted.
**are you sure Charge Only mode is DEFAULT
**and not just switched on?READ THE EFFEN MANUAL

last time i did chose Charge mode as default.can i just hit option menu "o" at aahk to return to stock rom?
i also did what andy said to hit "t".but same problem appeared.should i just reformat the sd card and give another try?

You need to have USB debugging enabled if you haven't already.

Go to settings > Applications > Developement > Turn on USB Debugging

And as it says, only leave it on charge only, don't try and connect the USB storage with your pc.

the Ace Hack Kit has a chat where attn1 will give you a hand if hes around...although he will be upset if he thinks you didn't read the entire "EFFEN MANUAL".

The advice i saw him give during my few hours in there the past couple days was that you really should be using ubuntu 10.04LS unless there is some special reason you can only use windows. leaving one driver on by accident can give you a mountain of headaches.

I would go to the chat and ask any of the operators in there. i watched them save a guy from completely bricking his phone earlier.

Sorry I didn't see that you can't turn your phone on.

I would definitely follow ooltra's advice above and go on the IRC channel they have, they are very helpful there.

It would have been best to use Linux to run the tool (or OSX) but now you have run the kit is your phone actually rooted? It is not a good idea to keep running it again and again. As stated by attn1 in the xda thread -

"Please do NOT run the hack step if you are already S-OFF and are running a custom ROM. It's pointless, and while it won't brick you, you can get jammed up a bit. This is for stock devices only."

The guys on IRC were really really helpful. They really figure out what anybody has the problem and then gave them the exact solutions. Specially i want to thank shadowfox....he's the guru.
My problem was i wipe the rom without installing any recovery after rooting.
So there was nothing in my phone
no rom / no recovery
Shadowfox provided my the step by step guidelines to install the CWM recovery, Last night i disconnected from the IRC and all of my messages lost.
It will be very appreciate-able if anybody can write fastboot commands in new thread. So that every one can have the benefit.
Thanks all again
