hey all... starting to get back into rooting i've been out of the game far too long...

so i've rooted my nexus and backed up my original rom settings... I went to reflash with zygot3's latest 1.9, here what my steps are, please correct where i'm wrong (i'm coming from standard ROM)

1. Backup current rom
2. I copied .ZIP file over the the root of phone
3. Boot into recovery mode
4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. Wiped Dalvik
6. Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
7. Install from sd card
8. Launch zygots3 1.9

I'm getting launch error and state unable to launch the file from the path... yada yada yada... bad install error --- something along those lines

What am I doing wrong? :thinking:

skip zygote 1.9, and possibly future zygotes as long as they are on that new kernel (JD or KD?)

Another user was reporting terrible things about this developer from a past experience, and while I thought his trolling was rude and inappropriate, as soon as I flashed his new kernel, I noticed that my phone was lagging and stuttering, and just not as smooth.

Then I got my first random reboot.

Switched back to Gummy for now.

Anyways, just be careful and keep nandroid backups.

Old news and hearsay evidence. I'd let that one go, especially around here. IRC is the place for those types of discussions, imo.

But as for avoiding an entire rom because of a kernel is rather naive is it not? Just flash another kernel, i.e. Imoseyan's. [kernel] Leankernel: Minimalistic Kernel (1.0.1, 12/24/11) - RootzWiki

Edit: 2.0 is available now. Perhaps it will fix some of the issues. It does. NFC fixed too.
