Help camera takes terrible pics......

I, for one, think it's decent.

It's fast and takes decent photos. I've been extremely happy with a ton of photos I've taken with my Gnex and disappointed with a few.

Whatever, it takes vastly superior photos than my OG Droid.

Absolutely -- the reviews all said it was decent and I find it to be perfectly decent for my purposes and I also own a Canon 5D with a nice lineup of lenses.

No trying to claim a camera phone will take the same quality picture as a REAL camera is what lame

Face it the cameras they put in cell phones is a novelty item only.

I am not saying it should take the same quality of pics as a real camera, but the pics shouldn't be horrible bad either.
My Omina which was made 2-4 years ago took great pics, even at full zoom, and even at night. The technology is there to make good cameras on phones, but some manufacturers have chosen not to do it.

But it no longer matters, I have been shown the light.

The Nexus is the perfect piece of hardware, I have no complaints.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it has no flaws whatsoever, no future phone will ever be able to top it.

I dropped it today and before it hit the ground it jumped back up and placed itself into the holster, and then it verbally apologized to me for the inconvenience.

This is impecable piece of equipment, my life will be forever changed because of this flawless godsend of a device.

I am ecstatic that this device has finally come down from heaven.

The camera takes good pictures, but it is a pain to focus correctly.

After playing around with it, I am confident about taking a good picture but if I would give it to stranger to take a photo of me, it would probably come back blurry. It really isn't really a simple point and shoot camera compared to other phones.

I think the problem is mostly with the software and not the hardware. The zero shutter lag feature makes it too easy to take out of focus pics.

Ok, so every time I want to take a photo I need to guage the available light, find something to brace the camera on, etc, etc? Strange that I didn't have to do that on my friends Iphone 4 to produce great photos.

I'd challenge any non-photographer to pick up my Nikon D700 and take a perfect picture. Does that mean my camera sucks? As a photographer, I WANT control over my shots. So I have put in the effort to learn the techniques/controls.

No complaints on my end about the camera in my Nexus.

Is anyone else noticing the Gnex taking cery low quality pics in low to mid light range and distance shots expecially wjen hour zooming on them... i mean serious its hirrible

I'm actually very satisfied with the picture quality, I'm coming from the Droid Bionic that had an 8MP camera that was very disappointing.

The camera in the Gnex really is really pretty good. If you don't think so you're either using it wrong, or you have a defect phone.

I would love to put up shots from my 5mp OG droid, my girlfriends 5mp iPhone 3gs, my Gnex shots and my mom's iphone 4 for you guys to see. My Gnex by far looks the best out of all of them.

Go look at how tiny that is on the stock SGN charger!

I saw a comparison between the nexus and rezound in this thread (http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...sfrom-today-galaxy-nexus-rezound-cameras.html) and the Rezound's pics look better imo.

How come this the case? The Nexus looks washed out and cheap. It looks almost like my old LG VX8300 flip phone and that just shouldn't be! lol Are there settings to make the nexus camera take better pics?

It seems that the software processing the pictures on the Rezound is just bumping up some saturation, which you can do in the Editing software of the Nexus.

Hey Stigy, Great pics of this and the Snapple bottle. What lighting conditions and did you use flash? I have yet to use the camera outside or in decent lighting conditions. I've done several comparisons of the same pic taken on my Nexus and iPhone 4 and find that the Nexus photos are about on par, probably 90-95% as good.

I guess you're not seeing the same high quality pics that stig posted that everyone else is seeing. I would say they are far from "horrible bad"...

This is with the flash off sitting at my desk in a regular office. Just flourescent lighting overhead and no windows in my part of the office, so the camera is doing really well.

The camera is great. There is clear evidence in this thread that a great picture can be achieved.

To those that are having trouble, try tap focusing, try changing the light settings, but it is definitely not the phone that is ruining your photos.

You can put a $10,000+ camera setup in the hands of someone. That doesn't make them take great pictures....

Again, photog for 30+ years here. This camera on a cell phone ranks in the EXCELLENT range!

The only thing that really bothers me about this camera is the shutter speed. It is supposed to be really fast, but as far as I can tell, this phone sucks at taking photos of subjects that are moving. The Droid X definitely seemed better in this regard. I haven't noticed any difference between auto and action when it comes to reducing blur on a moving subject.

I too think that the camera is decent and is good enough for posting pics on Facebook or a blog. Just make sure to clean the lens once in awhile as it picks up dusts very easily.

Agree 100%. User error should not be a reason for bashing a camera.

I am not sure what to think of it all. There are a lot of examples of excellent pictures taken by the Nexus, albeit most seem to be either macro shots or shots where the lighting is excellent. Nonetheless, they look great. But on the flipside, there are just as many examples of bad pics and complaints.

Many seem to put the blame on user error for the bad pics but lets be honest. It isn't like this camera has 100 settings that you can adjust and tweak to get an unmistakably better shot. Its pretty simple really. You hold a steady hand, use the correct white balance and exposure, tap to focus, and shoot. Something tells me there are people capable of, and doing this, while still getting poor pics. Not too poor to post on facebook or share with a friend, but poor compared to other phone cameras (ie. rezound, 4, 4s, SII).

Even the best iphone4s shots, when you blow them up and look at them at 100% you can see why they arent as good as a real point and shoot, its when they are shrunk down a little bit they look very nice...this camera is no different. My wife has a 4s...she gets just as many bad shots...there are some bad shots that still look awesome when its on facebook (slight blur, ghosting around edges that you cant see unless youre zoomed in). Though the 4s is a little better ever so slightly and video is a lot smoother...other than that...in my opinion this camera is one of the best phone cameras 2nd to the 4s and a tiny handful. Your decision should be made at this point based on what you want in a phone, I wont blame you if you dont get a nexus, i'm supportive either way but you should have all the evidence you need in this thread.

Well said and I agree. I'm just frustrated because try as I may, I cannot recreate the quality that you have in your pics. Perhaps it is indeed user error. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on taking pics though. Even when looking at the screen, focused in, prior to taking the shot I can see graniness and slight blur. This is my third phone so I dont want to blame it on faulty hardware. I don't know. What I do know is that your pics do look great and hard as I try....I cant replicate them.
