Hi,
my little sister got an Android phone and she wanted to download Angry Birds from the market. I used my Google account to log in but now I cannot remove it.

I found some posts saying that this should remove it:
In Menu, and go to Settings.
Select Applications > Manage Applications.
Look for the app “Google Apps”
Now, select “Clear data” button
But it does not work ! How can I remove it ? This is extremely annoying

cheers

There should be a factory reset option in the SD & Storage Menu. That will wipe the phone completely (although stuff on the SD Card will be safe) and she'll be prompted to run through the setup process again. She'll lose her progress though, is she ok with that?

Well she spend 1 day setting the phone up (wallpapers, contacts ..) so I'd like to avoid that :( I'm not an Android user (I have an iPhone) but maybe Google should put a huge warning before adding a new gmail account. Strange software design to lock the user in such a situation.

Kinda, but it's all tied in to licenses for purchased apps etc. You buy an app from the market and it's tied to the gmail account you bought it with.

I don't want to take this too off topic, but aren't you in a similar situation with your iTunes account?

Nope, there you can sign in / out with any account. The purchased Apps stay on the device if you sign out.

I tried deleting her gmail account and this works. So it looks my gmail account is set to be a kind of primary account that can't be removed

Interesting. So If I create an iTunes account, buy some apps, my mates signs out of his on his iPhone, I sign in to his iPhone with my account, install the apps I've bought, then sign out, he'll have access to the apps I've paid for?

Forgive me if I've interpreted that incorrectly, I'm still a little tender from yesterday. :p

In Settings > Accounts & sync > manage accounts,
if you click on an account, you will get the option "Remove account" if you have another Google account setup on your phone. I have done it once.
I wonder why you din't get this option on your phone.
I did have this option but when I clicked "remove account" it said that it cannot be removed. I did also have several gmail account. As said previously, I did a factory reset.
