Help o2 uk mms settings

I tried the online and text services and neither worked emailed support but they said I had call so I called they said dnt have the nexus one settings... I have tried some I found online bt ain't worked. Anyone on o2 contract with mms workin? I have the 12month simplicity 20 plan. My web works fine with default setting..

I'm not on the o2 contract, I'm actually using my iPhone PAYG sim card. But the MMS settings I've got work to some extent. I can send pictures fine, people receive them like normal, however, incoming pictures are tiny and totally useless.
This is a known problem (with o2 I think) and there is currently no work around.

If you google around you should be able to find various MMS settings to try. There's literally millions of results.

Right, there are a few threads on this, but what works for some doesn't for others. I'm on the same contract as you I think (except mine renews monthly).

I use the following settings for MMS:

Name: O2 MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
Port: 9210
Username: o2wap
Password: password (I think this is correct, obviously it masks the password, so I'm going from memory)
Server: Leave Blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Authentication Type: Leave Blank
APN Type: mms

This definitely works when sending MMS between this phone and my old o2 phone. Just make sure you test the settings with as small a picture as you can find, else it might not send due to picture size, and not be anything to do with your settings.

Failing that, if you try ringing o2 again, insist that it shouldn't matter which phone you have. Tell them to pick whatever smartphone they like and give you the settings for that instead.

Does anyone else not find it odd that they cannot add simple recognition for Android phones so we can send and receive mms without a reduction in quality.
I feel that because I have a phone that isn't supported by them that I'm not receiving the service that I pay for.
Does anyone know if any other carriers have issues with Android phones not sending MMS correctly? I have no reason to stick to o2 and would much rather be on a network that can handle MMS properly on my phone.

Ah, I thought it was a specific Nexus issue - I heard that if you ask them to set your account up to be some other smart phone with similar capabilities that'll sort the MMS size issue out. Haven't tried it myself though... I send an MMS maybe once a year.

I might try this. The only problem would be that I'm using my iPhone SIM card and o2 has already sent me a txt message saying that its supposed to only be used in an iPhone and it will be changed to a normal tarrif after 30 days lol. I can just put it back into my iPhone and call them up and complain though.
I might try my Orange SIM card and see if that works properly.
Will let you guys know.

if they can't provide support for a service and you arent getting the service, seems to me you shouldn't have to pay for the service... however much that should be, should be waived off of your bill... just my 0.02

Technically for me I can't ask that question to o2 as they aren't supposed to be providing me this service on the Nexus One. It is supposed to be provided for my iPhone.
If, however, it isn't working on my Orange SIM card then I'd be a bit annoyed that they can't support an Android phone. I can always try and get some settings off another provider for a similar Android handset for which they do support.

Hi all.

I used almost the same settings as oniongirl (as below) and these work fine on O2 for receiving mms's. I cannot send direct from the messaging app as it obv does not resize the pics down enough in size but I can resize them in PicSay Pro (cant find a free resizing app yet) to medium quality and it sends these fine, these are a not bad size either. Hope any of that helps
