Best DUAL SIM android phone?

Thanks NeWbIe. I was mainly irritated because different sellers stated different specifications for the same phone. Are there indeed versions of the X18i with only 256 MB RAM and 3 MP camera, and other versions of the X18i with 512 MB RAM and 8 MP camera? I don' t want to buy a phone which is advertised to have 512 MB RAM just to discover that the seller was wrong and the phone in truth only has 256 MB RAM.

Well if you want one specific model you can ask on the forum and maybe someone have it and say to you the real features and where did bought the phone.

Bye

Samsung I929 Galaxy S II Duos - Full phone specifications

I agree, if this one performs similar to 'regular' Galaxy II and i can get one around $400 this will be my next phone (With ZTE U960 as second option)

It's GSM + CDMA, and most of the world dont use CDMA.
If GSM+CDMA is what u are looking for there are a lot very good dual sim phone, such as the Motorola XT928 (the dual sim RAZR)

Hi kingcedz. I know they are maded for the China market. But tell me. Why can't they make a top quality phone for the european market. They only make miserable phones. Not any top models. See Samsung and Motorola phones for european. not worth owning. Poor camera etc.

The usual Single Sim phones made by Motorola and Samsungs for Europe are top notch. In fact, many of those models fetch high premium in China because of the quality.

Dual sim is a different game altogether. The chinese carriers are willing to subsedize for high quality dual sim GSM+CDMA because they support both network domestically, also they need the roaming support in their CDMA network, and dual sim is a easy way for them to achieve that.

In contrast, dual sim GSM in Europe is like asking why Vodafone dont paid Motorola so that Vodafone's customers can pay O2 some money. And without Telcos support its difficult for manufacturers to release high quality dual sim phones.

And after a few tries I ve found there are better English ROM with the signal fix from the russian forum china-iphone.ru. Forum.China-iPhone.Ru • ???????? ???? - Lenovo A60/A65 (MT6573, 3.5" HVGA, W+G, GPS, Android 2.3.x)[/URL]

somewhere in the first few post there was a 2.3.5 based ROM from Javum (i think that's the name). and all you need to do is download the zip, and flash it from the recovery and job done.
Hi Kingcedz, thanks for posting your experience to date.
I'm also trying to fix my phone!
I purchased it from Etowalk, and while they since sent me a file to flash to the phone to
fix the O2 & Vodafone GSM signal for Republic of Ireland (which it did to their credit, i'm now running A60_S171_111025), but I can't get root on the phone (remove unwanted apps or install new apps)
I followed that link you posted, and it directs me to two links, one is a recovery file, the other I believe is the full file.
I saved the zip file to my hard drive, and when i tried to flash the file, it said there were files missing. ( even repeated downloads gave me the message that there were files missing).
If you wouldn't mind, could you go through in details, how you flashed the phone via the recovery file. tks

So, any word on your phone?

Yes! :)

The EMS tracking website told me that my package was at my local PhilPost office, and that delivery had been attempted, on December 22 - however, the local Philpost had no knowledge of it.

Then, yesterday, a notice for collection of a package was left at my house - I went to collect first thing this morning. The package, although slightly deformed, was intact - there was no sign of any interference. The only payment I was asked to make was the standard PHP40 post office fee. The customs had not shown any interest! :)

Following information and advice posted by Bruno, I had changed my order from the G14 to the G11i Pro. Despite my aging eyesight, I decided that good performance was worth more than an extra .3" of screen.

I will attempt to produce a fuller review later, but initial impressions are very favourable. I have my Smart SIM in position 1 and Sun in position 2 - So far, I am getting good to excellent signal strength almost all the time. Just occasionally, the Smart SIM will report that restriction level has changed, and it goes to 'emergency calls only' state. However, even in this state, the status screen is showing good signal strength, and it doesn't last for more than a few seconds - I'm not sure what causes this. In two hours, I've not seen the Sun signal drop out even once. This is at home, where my Cherry Orbit would only receive a working Sun signal for about 5% of the day, or less, in short periods.

Camera quality is excellent, the UI looks good - I'd say that my overall impression is on the top side of my expectations.

I have bought 4 sofar, so I have some experience:
- Starlight HD2 (MTK6516) from lightintheBox
- B63M (MTK6573) with 265MB RAM from mobile-phones.cn
- B63M (MTK6573) supposed to have 4GB RAM, but really only 265MB RAM from myefox
- HD7 (H7300) (MTK6573) from mobile-phones.cn

Tips:
- DON't buy a MTK6516 anymore!!
* Too slow
* Android Froyo 2.2 =old
* Bad network reception
* mostly no real GPS receiver.(data network needed)

- Go for MTK6573 at least
- Look for 512MB RAM at least. 265MB is too little. otherwise after 10 apps, internal memory is full. Also with BIG SD-card and apps2SD.

- B63M comes with CAIVS. Chinese app that sends sms messages to find out where the phones are sold and what providers are used. The sms cost you money. You have to root to uninstall caivs.apk
- HD7 has short battery life. I hardly make it to the end of the day(normal use) (on GPRS mode, wifi and bluetooth only 1hour on)
- B63M has fairly good batterly live. Almost 2 days with wifi on all the time and HSDPA mode. Bluetooth 1hour.(commute time)

The B63M is light and feels very good in the hand.
The HD7 is heavy, but has bigger and brighter screen.
The HD7 has same formfactor as HTC HD2. So desktop standard/charger, car holder and HTC HD2 battery fit.(tested)
The HD7 has more active custom OS development(Bruno Martins) downloaded, but not tested yet.

Conclusion:
The only point of improvement of the Chinese Dual Sim phones would be more internal memory(RAM). at least 4GB.

Any first thoughts about the battery life?

Give me a couple of days - I've not had time to get it to 100% charge!

However, I've just arrived home from the farm and the phone held a usable signal on Smart for most of the time. The Cherry Orbit was always 100% dead there. Sun is no-go at the farm - no phone gets a Sun signal there.

Congratulations! I was so afraid that you might get taxed by customs. Now i will order same phone and same route and same delcaration as you. Btw, how much did etotalk declare the amount of the package?

Thanks in advance!

It was declared at US$60.

Was back at the farm today and was pleasantly surprised to find that while my wife was complaining that she had no Smart signal on her Nokia N97mini, I was happily texting! :)

So, it would appear that my G11i Pro has a better signal performance than a highend Nokia!

Are you sure? Here in the Netherlands, the custom's bill normally arrives a few weeks after the package. But 60usd is not much, nor would be any taxes.

I have checked with a few more merchants and people who bought XT532 from taobao after sending the last post, the ones currently on sale are all without google apps.

The Android market was replaced by MOTO's own app market, and apps like Gmail, Gtalk, Youtube are not there.

I can't confirm the part about WO, it looks like there are some phones on sales are without the WO symbols but they dont have stock Google Apps either.

It seems the ones that will be on sale in Hong Kong and Taiwan are different version to the ones currently on sale in China on taobao (which is the one engadget did review on), but will have to wait till Jan or Feb to see if that is the case.
kingcedz, are you aware of any reviews on XT532, including battery life? Etotalk now has dropped the price to 359usd.
