External battery charger?

Curious about thoughts/opinions on external chargers.

I'd rather not pick up one with a battery included as that will add to the price and I already have the extended battery.

So hoping to find:

1) works with both regular sized, and extended battery

2) does not include another battery

3) Relatively cheap, since no extra battery. (if it's over $25, might as well but it with the battery)

Anyone find anything like this? :)

Anyone try a universal charger like this?

Thanks, those are helpful for sure, I've done some searching but have mostly come up empty other than your second link, which is the official one I think.

Not a terrible price though, looks like I may end up with 3 batteries Oo...

Does the official charger work with the extended battery? I've considered buying it a couple times but haven't pulled the trigger yet...

ETA: That is the charger verizon is selling with a second standard battery
I wanted the extended battery AND the external charger so I've ended up with three batteries. :)

The official charger does work with the extended battery. The only problem (minor) is the door doesn't close completely. The question is, "why did they even bother with the expense of putting on the unnecessary door?"

My opinion: Wait.

I purchased one of these on launch day: Samsung Galaxy Nexus Samsung 1850mAh Spare Battery & Charger

I am very unhappy with it as the design was typical Verizon as it left out the most needed feature.

Much like the Verizon version of the Samsung Car Mount (which I promptly returned) this charger / stand does not have a built in charger or microUSB in the stand area - rather, they so kindly provide a very cheap USB y-connector to allow you to plug in both your charger and phone (which you can no longer stand vertical due to the plug being in the way).

I would think that we should start getting much better accessories when the Nexus hits the other carriers, until then, I would recommend waiting.

After reading Montpelerin's response about the aforementioned dock not having a charging port for the phone itself, I looked around for other options as I would also like an option to charge an extended battery and the phone simultaneously (without buying a 3rd battery).

Anyone have one of these? Looks like it might satisfy all my goals...

EDIT: wonder why the micro USB appears off-centered?

esmith818 - I think EXPANSYS USB Cradle + Battery Charger for Galaxy Nexus #DUALDOCK_GN - Expansys USA was most likely designed for a different phone and the ad page was just renamed to sell to Nexus owners.

There are several phones with a MicroUSB along the top or bottom of the side of the phone and it seems this was designed for those.

***Edit: If you were to use that dock for the Nexus, it may work fine, but it would have to be mounted vertically on the right side of the dock for charging purposes - you would not be able to mount it horizontally as the USB would be in the way.

I'm waiting for a battery and charger set to hit ebay.

I bought several of those for the 3 DIncs we have.

I know it is just a matter of time before they come out with them. Such a pain waiting for all the vendors to finally make accessories for the new phones. Same thing happened when I got my Incredible on release day. Took forever for decent accessories.

I agree with you I'm waiting out for the cheap one they're usually around $10 and you get spare batteries (the batteries are crap) the charger they come with is rock solid and very nice I love the Light that lets you know the status of the battery and they are small and the one from my eris is still working after using it for my eris, incredible and evo . My roommate and girlfriend all have the same batteries so it has gotten a lot of use over two years and still works perfectly

The batteries blow they usually look like they're working for about a month and then they slow die on you . But there nice to just have fully charged and ready to go in a pinch

I ended up ordering the Lenmar (though from amazon) I'll update this thread when I get it and see how well it works.

Not as cheap as I would have liked, but I want to see if it will last me through my next phone and beyond. I'm planning on doing the same for a car mount too, getting something more universal. And for a desk dock I think I may try my hand at making one.

I'll miss the pogo pins though.
