Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Nandroid FTMFW :) yeah fransiscos kernel

Altimax, he just updated it this morning to nightly 6. It's not even updated on his page yet, but I went to download it, and it's #6, uploaded this morning.

Do I just wipe cache and dalvik?

Should I wait til the 4.0.3 ROM boots up first and then reboot into recovery before flashing the kernel? Or does it work better if I do it all in one shot?

Yes, and.. maybe? I ran CWM in ROM Manager after I rooted. Is that what you mean? I'm still pretty new to the whole rooting concept.

Okay. For now, uninstall the game if it you downloaded it , reboot into recovery from ROM manager, wipe your cache, then go to advanced and wipe dalvik, then reboot.

See if that works. If you're okay without random reboots, make a backup in ROM Manager. It's essential to have a backup to fall back on in case you "soft brick" or something.

EDIT:
If that doesn't work, you'll have to flash another stock image or ROM and see if that works. I've been flashing like a perverted drunk old man, and haven't had a random reboot yet.

Amazon App of the Day is fine. GetJar is considered a piracy site - posts deleted and cleaned, no infractions.

I have never heard of this before?? I am not certain how their compensation or marketing works for devs, but do know many devs do offer their apps through getjar officially. Beautiful Widgets in particular is officially legit through getjar according to their support staff per the link below. I could see the many open sourced and non proprietary nature of Android and many of the apps causing confusion in this regard as any joe schmo can go and offer such apps as a dev through a place like getjar. I have never really heard specific or widely publicized claims of getjar promoting piracy in the past though is my real question to your claim. Just seems unfair to blanket label a legitimate small time appstore as piracy when as far as I know the only large claim against them was apples issue with them calling themselves and appstore. This doesn't mean there haven't been smaller dev fighting over such things, but I have seen pay launchers ALL OVER the official google app store that are just amateur hacks of freely available tweaked version of stock launchers on the official market for a long time in the earlier days of launch customizing. If there is a link I would like to see it. I am against piracy, but if a place like getjar has a savvy way to offer many paid apps for free and most devs are going to them as seems to be the case on the surface I find it unfair to label them as piracy site. Part of the reason I use android is because it's not a 100% walled garden like Apple where there is only one supported retail distribution option for devs. This should include less well known and large retailers really also if the dev chooses.

beautiful widget + getjar / Beautiful Widgets / Discussion Area - LevelUp Studio Support

Also, their revenue model seems plausible enough to keep many devs happy while giving users free access to those devs apps.

Okay, thank you Han. Will any of this wiping clear my apps? Or is it okay because I have the backup?

By the way, has anyone else had random reboot issues?

No. If you wipe data/factory restore within the recovery screen, then yes, it will wipe everything. But you don't want to do that yet. Just wipe data cache, then dalvik cache, then reboot.

If you still have problems after that, though, then you'll need to flash a new ROM.

If you don't have any problems after wiping data and dalvik, then make a backup and keep that. That way, in the future, you'll be able to restore it exactly as you had it, which means apps too.

(Although I recommend backing up all your apps using Titanium Backup anyway, just to be sure.)

Would someone mind posting, or pm me, a copy of their reboot-from-recovery.back file. I deleted mine, and would like to make sure I have a copy when the next OTA comes out.

Thanks
Do you mean "recovery-from-boot.p?" I had renamed mine with the .bak extension, but for some reason is disappeared during all my flashing. For insurance I restored to stock and made a copy of it to have for future use.

Would you like me to send it to you?

Captain,

Yes! That would be fantastic. Thank you very much.

Is anyone using Go SMS and having the issue where it randomly sends to another contact even though you make sure its the one you picked. Example is that I picked Bill from the contact list but after hitting send I see it went to Karen. ??!!!!!

I used to have that issue with GoSMS on my DX every so often. I haven't experienced it yet on the GN. Hope I don't...it's annoying.

Francos kernels are win in I/O and the sd card and screen tweaks are nice. They are imo the highest performing kernels I've flashed (haven't tried #6 yet). They are not the best battery sippers though.

For those on the other side of the fence & wanting "marathon-like" battery life along with smooth performance give imoseyon's Minimalistic kernel a shot. It's simply stunning on the juice sipping ;)

@ hans that pink uni scared me I thought it was a joke upon flashing romans 1st builds right after launch day. I like it now :p

Here's a Google Music question... I downloaded some songs to my Nexus from my account for playback in the car. Connected the phone to my stereo via the 3.5mm male plug normally used for my Sirius radio. Music played fine; sounded just as good as it does from my iPod. But when the song was over, the music stopped. I tried this twice (picked a song at random and played it) and the music just stops when the song I picked was over. Um, why didn't it play the next song? Is this a setting or something stupid I'm doing? Google Music isn't completely driven by playlists, is it?
