i got several Tune Belt ("for larger smartphones" variety) armbands for my Droid X, and i was pretty sure the GNex wouldn't fit in them because it is taller, but i'm glad to report i was wrong! the GNex fits just as well as my Droid X, i guess because it's thinner. i recommend these. they don't really have any frills, but they fit and work great:

Note: i do not work for that company and i don't have the extended battery yet, but i think it will still fit.

Are there any issues with the headphone jack being on the bottom or is there a hole for it? If not, are you inserting the phone upside down?

one end of the holder is entirely open (this is where you insert the phone), and the other side has several holes for various headphone placements, so either way you put it in you should be covered. the way i use it, the headphone jack would be on the open side, so it would be no problem.

and when i say completely open, it's not like your phone is hanging out exposed to the elements. there's a little lip that covers the end of the phone and holds it in there well.

personally, i use stereo bluetooth headphones and really think those are the way to go for exercise...

the ab83 will definitely work, as that's the one i use. i've used it with both wired and wireless headsets now and it's great. i did use it with my Droid X first, so the X might have stretched it out a bit, making the Nexus fit in more easily.

i'm curious to hear about the ab84 since it may work better, but since i already have 2 ab83s, i'll stick with those for now.

The product seems good if you want an armband. I am just curious why people would want to use an armband for their phone.

I used to use an armband at the gym a few years ago before I started wearing Blutooth headphones. I found them to be more comfortable without the wire and the sound on my Motorola is great. I also like to use my phone to log my workouts so an armband is a no go.

running :) (runkeeper is an awesome app).

i agree that for weight lifting, my pocket is better.

Actually the AB85 is probably what we want, especially if you have a kickstand case or other case on the phone like I do...
http://www.tunebelt.com/ab85
The AB82 fits up to 4.5" tall. The AB83 fits up to 5" tall, the AB84 fits up to 5.1" tall, the AB85 fits up to 5.5" tall. The Galaxy Nexus is a bit over 5 1/4" tall.

I actually used to squeeze my Fascinate into an AB82 IN a kickstand case (when I got my Touch Pro2 I got the AB82 at the time it was the biggest armband around!! They are very stretchy, but this was far from a good fit, it stuck out the top quite a bit.

i also use moto bluetooth headphones and love them, just upgraded to the S10 HD.

i actually prefer a sportbelt, i've had the same one since the original ipod days and my D1 and D2 fit just as well. i'm a little iffy on the armband for lifting weights, but i dont think i would feel comfortable putting the gnex in a newer sportbelt, it just seems more fragile compared to the D1 and D2.

keep up the armband feedback

I already have the ab83 coming for Christmas. I'll report back next week how it fits.

Reporting back as promised. The AB83 is a PERFECT FIT. I received it for Christmas and took it out on a run yesterday. The phone fits in perfectly and can be put in and removed without any issue. Additionally, the holes in the bottom perfectly align for the USB port and headphone jack.

I recommend it without hesitation. I'll try to post some pics later.

I have the diztronic tpu case which adds minimal bulk to the phone. Do you think the ab83 would still fit?

I also have the TPU Diztronic on, so I opted for the AB84. If the AB83 works bareback the 84 should be just about perfect, and the circumference is still under the 6.75" it lists even with the case.

I'll report back once it comes in...

@illinimatt81 Any chance you could post those pictures? I'm looking into getting an armband for my gnex.

The fact that it's .15" larger than the case doesn't make it a little hard to get in/out?

I just read a review on amazon on the AB83 and the gnex, where a user was complaining about not being able to use any of the bottom buttons. Has anyone who has one noticed this?

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Tune Belt Sport Armband for Droid X, HTC ThunderBolt, Samsung Galaxy S & more (fits larger smartphones and some phones in protective cases)

i do not have that problem. i think i know what they mean by the plastic "curls," but if you're really concerned about that you just have to be more careful putting it in. personally, i'm lazy so i just shove it in there and yeah, the plastic on the armband is a little bit separated from the touch screen, but it still works fine (even the bottom ones).
