hi!

I just bought the droid razr and its my first smartphone!

However I am kind of confused about using it (omg!!!) so I thought hey why not ask my questions here!

1. Storage. I thought this phone had 32gb onboard, and 32gb pre installed SD card. When I go to storage, it says 2.72gb available space (application storage), 8gb internal space available, 14.82gb available on SD card, 8gb on internal storage. That is only like 24gb so far that's available.... how do I see how much storage I really have? Like on my computer I can see C drive I have 180gb free of 256gb.

2. 4g/3g. If I want to use 4g how do I do this? I don't get 4g where I live but I get it on my campus. I get 3g at home but right now 3g isn't showing. :(

3. Task manager. When I press home does it not turn off applications? I looked in task manager and I had like 12 apps running LOL. How do I make them stop automatically?

Thanks!!! Other than that I love this phone!!! I was looking into buying an iphone 4s but android won me over :3

Oh and I got an Otterbox defender case for my phone. I tried it out and it seemed pretty good like it'd protect the phone nicely. Would you guys say it was a good call to get that case?

Ill answer what I can. The storage issue: The phone comes with 16 on board and 16 on the sd card. The reason your storage on the phone shows less is because the op system uses a good chunk of the on board storage. The phone allows you about 3 gb for application storage, so all the storage numbers on your phone look fine.

First thing you need to do about your 3g/4g issue is go to settings-data manager, then make sure data enabled is checked. That should bring you 3g icon up at your house. To toggle between 3g and 4g when in a 4g area, go to settings-wireless networks-mobile networks-networks mode, then select cdma for 3g only, or select cdma/lte for 4g. Also to simplify the 3g 4g process, go to the market and search for 4g toggle for razr. This toggle will streamline the process to switch between 3g and 4g.

Hope this helped.

Pressing the home key does not necessarily stop an app (as you've discovered).
Most apps you have to 'back' out of to make them stop running.
And some apps just keep running, or restart, no matter what you do. What do you do then? - don't worry about it. As long as the phone is behaving the way that it should, don't worry about what's running in the background. IF the phone starts to lag THEN you look to see what's running that shouldn't be.

In my opinion, any case is better than no case. Otterbox is a favored brand, I expect that was a good choice. I use a different case, but it's really a matter of personal preference.

I tend to be of the view no case. Of course if you are prone to dropping the phone then a case might help either to improve grip or provide some shock absorption. otter box and tpu seem to be the most popular cases - dependent on style.

I might pick up a case with a kick stand as that would be useful on occasion but right now my thought is no case - of course if i drop the phone i might regret the choice :(

From user reviews and comments it sounds like the razr screen is prone to shattering either because it is thin or the phone is poor at absorbing contact energy or both.
