usb cord wont show up in notifications

So i'm trying to get my iTunes on my phone. I downloaded the double twist app. Everything is working fine but when i try to drag down my notifications and change the usb storage the usb connection won't show up. I've been through all the settings in my phone to try to fix this but i can't find anything about the usb connection. I went to settings>wireless and network settings just like one of your answers said but it doesn't have anything about usb connection in there.Without the usb connection i can't sync my phone to my computer. Also i don't have a password or anything. please help me. I'm very frusterated with my phone.

It's important to know which phone you have, since the menu options vary from model to model. Settings>Wireless and Networks is for Galaxy class Samsung phones. Other phones you will find the USB settings in menu>settings>applications. Also you will want to make sure that menu>settings>applications>development>debugging is NOT checked.

Hopefully you're using a recent-ish Android device. If so then Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB Utilities will sort you out. If you're using some weird Android device, it might be different.
