Root Flashing A Kernel

I thought I seen something somewhere that you had to /mount/data in recovery before flashing a kernel. What is this and when do you need to do this? I am running Mik3D with a2sd. I have 16GB SD card that is partitioned EXT3. I am looking to flash the Anthrax kernel but want to make sure I do it right. Before I would wipe cache and dalvik then just flash the zip. I never mounted anything but that was before partitioning. I am using AmonRA 2.3 as my recovery. Thanks for any info you can provide!

That is a trick used sometimes to fix wifi issues when flashing kernels with sense 3.5 ROMS

For anthrax the dev suggests wiping dalvik and cache, then flashing kernel, then wiping dalvik and cache again, then booting up, letting the phone sit for 10 minutes without being touched, and then rebooting.

It's not a trick to fix wifi issues, it's the trick not to bork wifi.;) All Sense 3.5 roms need to use this process of mounting/unmounting data for flashing a kernel. All other roms, the process is not needed to flash a kernel
