Help Tablet (only) micro sd/sd question

I'm getting my tablet next week but don't intend to buy the dock. I have a question regarding the available inputs on the tablet itself.

When I travel, I usually take a small laptop with me and back up my photos each night from my sd cards to the laptop. I'd like to be able to do this with my Prime and was wondering if there is a way to do this.

(I know I can use an eye-fi pro sd card, but I have a lot of sd cards and those are pretty expensive to replace all of my cards. I also assume I can use a micro sd with an adapter, but my sd cards are class 10, so again the micro sd card route would not be the best.)

Is there an adapter that would allow my current sd cards to somehow connect to the Prime?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks, Jay. That looks pretty cool and would solve my problem, but it is actually more than I need and would cost about the same as two eye-fi cards, so I'm not sure which is better. I was hoping for a cheaper, plug-in solution to just off-load the pictures on my cards to the tablet.

Maybe something that would connect to the the dock connector, or I suppose I could always get the dock as a last resort.

Thats ok fran1r, glad I could point you in the right direction :) YOu gave me the impression you had a lot of SD cards in your original post, so I thought this could be a good solution. :D

As far as I am aware you cannot connect anything to the dock port bar the docking station, I could be wrong tho!

I did take a good look for SD card adapters for you, but they all go the other way, IE SD to Micro SD. I guess this makes sense as an SD Micro to SD adapter would be huge. Plus you would have to dump all the files to the internal memory and then back onto the Micro SD card, which I am not sure you would even be able to do unless Rooted.

Your best bet would to bite the bullet and buy the dock tbh. :) Also, can you get class 10 eye-fi cards?

Now, I could be wrong. But I may have found a solution for you in the form of an official expansion card for Eee Pads: (inc Transformers)

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Peripherals & Accessories- ASUS External USB Adapter

It has 1x USB 2.0 port and 1x 40 Pin Docking Port to plug into the bottom of the tablet. I am not 100% sure if it works with the Prime, but could be worth a look fran1r.

Got the Prime today and looking for an opinion as to whether this would work.

Was thinking if I had a USB to USB adaptor like this:
For only $0.73 each when QTY 50+ purchased - USB 2.0 A Female to A Female Coupler Adapter | USB 2.0 Adapters

and then got a SD to USB adaptor like this:
For only $4.95 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 10 in 1 mini USB 2.0 Card Reader (SD/MS/micro SD) | External USB 2.0 Card Readers

I might be able to transfer from SD to the Prime for less than $10.

Would this work?

I think I must be missing something here fran1r. What is the female to female adapter for? Surely anything USB based would require the keyboard dock?

It would seem to me the only issue you have is that you are trying to do this on an extremely tight budget, exactly how much do you want to spend? :)

Have used this adapter + card reader to transfer CF to the TF201 tablet through the MicroSD slot.

Mobidapter - SD to USB Adapter

Google for Saelig and search for model
Saelig Electronics
Model - MIO001
$39.95

Little afraid of it sticking out there but have had no problems.

First time posting so can't include url.
