[Verizon] WARNING: Titanium System Restore + Google Server Sync/Gmail Issue

Hi guys, I mentioned this is another thread but haven't gotten any responses...

i've been running zygot's since the begining and now obviously on axiom's 2.1...

i'm running into an issue for the first time and wanted to see if anyone else is having a similiar problem... my google sync doesn't work... for whatever reason my bar's never are blue but i'm still able to perform data functions such as browsing internet, using google services etc....

Even on 4g i'm getting a data connection but the signal bars are grayed out meaning i'm not sync with the google servers... only problem i'm noticing is that my gmail won't automatically sync nor do I receive emails without having to manually go into the app and click the refresh icon... even when I get new emails, I do not get any notification... anyone else noticed this?

I'm running axiom's 2.1 without modifications... and using lightflow ---- any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this???

UPDATE --- flashed to previous rom from 12/25 and google sync started working...

going to redownload axium 2.1 (although I confirmed MD5 Check Sum was correct) and attempt to completely re-wipe and see if I can reflesh 2.1 and still retain blue signal bars for google sync...

please let me know if anyone ran into a similiar issue?

I haven't had any issues on 2.1 with mods and without using lightflow. What radios are you using the offical radios from 4.0.2 or the leaked radios from 4.0.3?

official radios from 4.0.2... I think I may have missed one of the system wipes along the inital flash to axi0m 2.1...

just backed everything up again... and re-downloaded and going to give this a shot..

thanks for confirming you are solid with 2.1 that way I know it's something specific on my device... at first i was thinking it maybe axi0m b/c when I restored the STOCK rom, google sync and blue signal bars returned..

UPDATE #2 --- guess whose back, back again, blue bars back tell a friend

apparently I missed one of the inital wipes, either the /system wipe or the data wipe... but performed standard steps to upgrade axiom 2.1 and reflashed...

working like a charm --- lessons learned, take your time on rom reflash no matter how excited you are

well I jumped the gun... signal bars are blue and all data appears to be working but i'm still not getting any gmail notifications... under my settings --> account @ sync --- my gmail account SYNC is ON...

i'm going to delete and reinstall light flow... anything you guys reccomend to get my gmail to start syncing up and pushing my emails without me having to do it manually? sheesh what a pain

I had the same issue. I figured out it only happened when I used titanium backup to restore apps and system data. Now I just restore apps only and haven't had this issue. It happened to me on several different roms and not just axiom. Hope this helps you out!

AFAIK my gmail syncs without issues. Try checking the settings within the gmail app itself. I don't think light flow would have anything to do with it but try uninstalling and leaving it uninstalled for a bit if you think it may be part of the problem.

I also have the gmail widget on my home screen so that may be another reason why mine is syncing if it is a problem with the rom.

this is exactly whats going on... I restored using titanium + system data... when I went into settings --> account & sync --> I forced a manaul sync and instantly lost my blue bars... so i'm going to wipe and reflash one last time but only restore apps... fingers crossed

Yeah never use titanium to restore system data or it can cause weird issues. I think the restore missing apps with data is just user apps and the data related to them but I don't even backup my system apps or data so I can't say for sure.

I did a series of tests... this is 100% related to titanium restore...

just completed wiped and only setup gmail account.... shot myself some emails, all came instantly with notification and bluebars... restored app+system data (just to confirm) and issue starting happening immediately following restore...

performed process from axiom's rom as well my stock rom... both times restoring system data through titanium causes the gmail sync issue, I just want everyone to be aware of this since I am not the only one with this issue...

-only way to fix that I am aware of is to completely wipe and reflash

i'm giving the RESTORE MISSING APPS WITH DATA a shot and see what happens... I think it's right b/c I 33 of these and like 77 or so system data... the RESTORE APP AND SYSTEM DATA was right around that sum 33+77....

I'm just mad b/c I hate having to redo all my homescreens, keyboard settings, wifi etc....

just curious... what are you using to backup then? how can you not have any data to backup?!?!

just curious... what are you using to backup then? how can you not have any data to backup?!?!

I am using Nova launcher and it has a great backup restore feature for home screens. I use TiBU for my user apps and data, system data I don't backup at all. I use the batch backup feature "Backup all user apps and data" I believe for them.

I've seen a lot of people saying they don't like TiBU becase it causes issue but IMO it only causes issues when people try to use it for backing up /system things. I know there have been some issues with it and facebook restore as well but I don't use facebook so that doesn't bother me.

It isn't difficult to go in and tweak the settings not to mention lots of times the settings are the part of the rom that changes.
