*Rezound ICS OTA is live Thread*

If you look at both HTC and Verizon's track record on upgrading Android, you'll see they've been keeping their devices moving upward continuously. That article is unabashed speculation, and bad speculation at that. I have no doubt HTC is working on an update for the Rezound, but it'll probably be summer before we see it. ICS has a lot of kinks right now...no point rushing it.

Agree but it has less kinks then you think

I'm actually afraid some of the current apps are not going to work on the ICS-Rezound later. I think what they really should do is recall every gnex right away. Then give these free phones to every developer that has software/apps on the Android Market or XDA to test and update their software/apps. Later give a new/future rev of the gnex to the current customers. By then both the hardware/phone and software/apps will be working :) We actually want the gnex to succeed - we need a few good android phones from different manufacturers to topple the fruity phones :) (All androids phones are friends!!)

HTC has said that it will get it. The question is when not if.

I did the samething! I returned the nexus and got the rezound. Totally love the rezound it's just miles better than the nexus.

So I exchanged the nexus for the rezound last night..and was wondering if/when the rezound will update to Ice Cream Sandwich? The salesman had doubts that this phone will get the software update...though I believe no such thing! Anyone know?

I can tell you from experience that most apps work just fine in ICS. By the time 4.03 comes out which will be standard on all upcoming phones those apps will be fine.

JSYK nexus is on 4.02. So we probably won't see ICS until 4.03 is released.

I was at a VZW store to finally get my Rezound (went on sale today for $199), but was able to get it for $149 after "NE2" or whatever they call it today.

The lady casually told me (I didn't ask) that she was told that the Rezound would be getting ICS by the end of this month.

While I was getting checked out (there were some complications) other employees came to assist and another employee told me the same exact thing when I casually asked him about ICS features on the GNex...so I'm inclined to believe them at this point. yay?

The only thing I covet on the GNex is ICS. But it was more based on things I read about rather than any actual experience with Android 4.0 (besides the short time I played with the display unit).

That changed yesterday when I installed ICS on my wifi Xoom tablet. I've been playing around with it almost nonstop and I simply cannot believe just how much of an upgrade it is from honeycomb. I bought the Xoom about a month after it came out and can honestly say that I've not used it nearly as much as I thought I would mostly because I felt the user experience lacking. But ICS is a real pleasure to use. The Xoom finally feels like the device I expected it to be when I got it 10 months ago.

The reason I bring this up is because the leaked early build of ICS for the rezound that hit the web the other day suggests that HTC is working hard on 4.0. Yeah, it's still really bugging and pretty much unusable as a day driver, but I finally feel like ICS will become a reality and not just some words on a press release.

Right now, I'm running CleanROM 1.5 by a wonderful dev name scott available here. It's an amazing rom. Fast, lean, stable and reliable with stunning battery life. It is by far the best rom on any phone I've ever used. So for now, I can wait for ICS to drop on the rezound.

I'm also glad I ultimately ended up sticking with the rezound instead of switching to the GNex. Even though the latter already has ICS, what you see is pretty much what you get. That's not the case with the rezound. If ICS can make a 10 month old tablet feel like a brand new device just imagine what it will do for a phone that's just a couple months old with better hardware. Beastly is the word that comes to mind.

This is an great time to be an android phone owner, but it's especially exciting for us rezounders.
