i just read this article and noticed some phones are already getting cm9

Install / Flash CyanogenMod 9 Android 4.0.3 ICS On Galaxy S II [How-To Tutorial] | Redmond Pie

will we be able to look at the CM9 source code and develop such a ROM for the esteem? also, would this take a few weeks or few months in your opinion?

all thoughts and opinions welcome!!:)

i also read this so it doesn't seem that LG is releasing ICS for esteem :(

I would imagine that CM9 will only be a matter of time, but I wouldn't expect it too soon. I've seen PlayfulGod say more than once that until Cyanogen puts out an official release, that he won't be trying to cover the same ground at the same time. It's one thing to port someone's work, and another (wasteful) thing entirely to duplicate it when there's no need to, and get frustrated over it, to boot.

Bottom line assumption from me: ICS will end up on this phone at some point, but you're going to see it on a lot of other phones first.

+1 to that. And besides, once we have a deodexed rom or cm7 you can make you phone look exactly like ICS would and even sound like it. yes I'm aware it wouldn't be exactly the same but hey, cm7 is better than no cm at all. :)

YUMMM. ICS! seriously though, I'll be fine with cm7. I'm excited to see what it does to my phone. I love BASIXS on my wife's galaxy indulge. this will be the first rom on a phone that's mine!

ICS is much faster and uses less battery than any version of Android before it. The camera also has no shutter lag (it's been completely re-written for this). Believe me, ICS blows CM7 away.

You know... they said something similar about gingerbread and personally I haven't noticed any real difference. (Tested on multiple phones rooted and unrooted ) as for the camera, I could care less about the lag. Long as it doesn't take forever.

ICS isn't just a version update, it's pretty much a rewrite of Android. There are many differences that speed the system up, one is the new driver model. And why wouldn't you care about shutter lag on the camera? With no shutter lag there is no delay when you hit the shutter button, i.e. you get the picture you were trying to take and there is much less chance of it being blurry.

I know what ICS is, I'm just stating my doubts because they have said similar crap before. And I hear the galaxy nexus with 4.0 has battery issues so I view that as a failed promise in the battery section. The reason I don't care about shutter lag is because I never use my camera. (Not a picture person. It's not a phobia, I just despise pictures. Even my gf of two years doesn't have a pic of me for herself. Video I don't care about, I take video. Just a picture I hate.)
