Hello all,

As I just recently bought an android phone, I am new both to android and this forum- so I'm not really sure if this is the place to post this, but please help as I am experiencing some frustrating issues!

Let me begin by saying I just bought the new Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. My first impression of this phone was WOW! The screen size/resolution is amazing. Everything I seemed to do happened immediately and with no delay. Very intuitive user interface, so on a so forth.

...Then I started downloading some apps. The main app I use is words with friends. I like to play against my wife who has the Motorola Atrix. I started noticing that my WWF app was taking a long time to load (even compared to my Iphone 3gs that I just upgraded from) so, naturually, I compared the two. Her's loaded about twice as quickly as mine! And I started noticing some other things too that started to irk me: when opening Pandora I had to go through buffering (which varies how long it takes each time). I never had to buffer when Pandora started when using my 3GS. Why would this be? I guess I'm just confused how a phone with specs nearly three times as good as my iphone has trouble running apps that my Iphone 3GS had absolutely no problems with. And slower than my wife's nearly year and a half old atrix...

I'm getting to the point where I think I may just return this one and wait for the Galaxy Nexus to come out.... I'd gladly pay the extra $50 bucks to not have to deal with these issues. Please advise!!

If you haven't done so already, you might try restarting the phone. Sometimes, this helps as it clears everything that is running (and that might be slowing things down som), and only necessary processes (or those that you have set up to sync/check automatically) will begin on startup.

If that doesn't seem to do the trick, I don't really know what else to try. Maybe exchange it for a new SR and see if that helps.

I have WWF and many other apps and mine runs very quickly (knock on wood).

so far every issue is associated with an app that is web based

it is possible that your phone is not provisioned properly.

when you switched to the new phone di they/you make sure your plan was changed to the proper plan? or is your phone maybe still operating on an iphone plan?

are you in an LTE area?

even if not, download speedtest from the market and test your ping and net speeds.

I did try restarting it and have since experienced less delay, but the speed in which it loads some web based apps still leaves something to be desired...

The phone is provisioned properly for LTE but I don't think that is the issue as I am connected via wifi. After doing a speed test, I have to assume its something to do with words with friends (as I'm getting speeds above 11000 kbps ). I just don't know why my wife's would be able to load it more quickly than I, being that were on the same wifi.

I use word feud. I think you can now play words with friends users via that

I am also noticing slow speeds on my phone. When I open the stock messaging app it takes a few seconds to open. Then when choosing who i am messaging, it takes a few seconds to open the message, or when i'm trying to go back to the screen that shows all who I am messaging. I keep it limited to two conversations at a time and delete the rest. It was instant before. Also, when I'm sending, I'm noticing a few second delay from when I type and send to it showing up on my screen.

First of all, the problem that you are reporting has nothing to do with the speed of the phone. The Skyrocket is amazingly fast. However, neither the Skyrocket or the world's fastest supercomputer can compensate for the speed of your Wireless connection. It is likely that, for some reason, the Skyrocket does not like your wifi or your wireless router does not like the Skyrocket or something in between. It is a Wifi issue. If things are fast with LTE (and I suggest that you try connecting via LTE), then your wifi is the problem. There are excellent wifi analyzers for Android, use one of them.
