After reviewing both the Rockchip and Telechip box in other threads, I now have a chance to own the Amlogic box.

Actually, I ordered the A9 model, but don't know why the seller sent me the more advanced one, A10. A10 is the same box as A9, but have external wifi antenna, and SATA port for external HDD connection.

The box itself is made of brush/adonized aluminium all around, and looks beautiful.

As expected, the box performs much faster than the Telechip box, and a bit faster than the Rockchip one.

To my surprise, the builtin 2GB internal SD, allows 1.6GB spaces for internal applications installation. Installation to SD means the external SDcard I plug into the SDcard reader. With such amount, I never have to move internal apps to SD.

FullHD mkv files play smoothly with the pre-installed Video app, which to my another surprise, also supports subtitles.

Every apps work so smooth and fast. Youtube HD video played with either Youtube/XL website, or JetVD app, run smoothly in real HD.

Using tTorrent to download files to external usb HDD is without problem.

Netflix highest video quality on this box is only SD. It's the Netflix app problem, not the box. (my internet speed is 10Mbps). Appletv 2 is still the best device for playing netflix (HD quality, always, right from the start)

The box allows me to calibrate the screen area to fit the physical screen (mine is 42" Plasma), a great accessories.

The icons and font size are big and clear for viewing from my couch. This is what every Android TV Box should have. The number of pre-installed apps are minimal, which is good!

The only weak point is the included Android Market has very limited number of apps. I can't find any well-known apps in this market at all. I consider it as unuseable.

I'll give more photos and my comment about this box later. Overall, it is better than the other two boxes I owned.

Netflix video quality on this box is not useable because the output resolution is too low. It's the Netflix app problem, not the box.

Hi tapottolo,

Sorry to hear that. I don't have firmware file for this model.

However, I've contacted the manufacturer of this product to solve the Market problem. They said they could solve it within a few days. If so, I believe they would give me the whole firmware update.

Once I got it, I'll let you have it too; but I'm not sure whether the firmware update process requires a working SDcard reader or not.

To share your mistake, please let us know which firmware renders your box unuseable?

Hello and Happy New Year!!!

I have reflashed the original firmware (i suppose) given me from the producer...

I bought the box from internet coupon.

Ruzzolone, if you are a android expert, you should see why the market shows only few apps and there aren't google apps installed.

Now it's not possibile to sync with google account and so it's not possible to use gmail, calendar, market and a lot of apps that use gmail profile to work as well...

i think now it is the biggest limit of this box...

Another thing is playing mkv 720 files... in wifi mode i play these files with many drops and problem...

Could it be a wifi problem (less internet band 54mbit to stream hd videos) or could be the player?
What player do you use to play hq files?

P.S. if you want i can post the firmware given to me from the producer.

Bye...

Hi, How did you upgrade without using the remote control?
To synchronize gmail account look and check the date that is not the default date 01/01/1970. Sometimes lost date and is better if you check automatic date from internet.

My version is MASTEReng.rwf.20111125.094351

Hi, do you have A10 box? and your market is ok?
can you share your firmware?
and i want to know is there any diffrent with A10 and I10?

my box is ider a10 and he producer gave me two different files:

1.c03ref-ota-eng.rwf.zip
2.uImage_recovery

i put onto sd and usb and boot the box and then these are my box information

model number: MBX DVBT reference board (c03ref)
android version 2.3.4
kernel version: 2.3.4 rwf@rwf-virtual-machine #6
build numnber: GB.MBX.20111125

What are your information?
Can you share a link with the master firmware?
I have only a limitated market and no google apps (no Account & Sincyng option in settings) and no possibility to use gmail, gcalendar etc etc...

i upgraded without the remote, putting the files above on sd and usb and booting...

this is the link with my firmware...

Download upgrade steps.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

EDIT: THE CUSTOMER CARE OF IDER A10 (http://en.szider.com) SAID "the new firmware can be ready after 3days."

Hi all,
my box is comming... but I have a couple of questions from whose already have one..

1. Is the box SPDIF output coax or optical?
where I bought says...
Video: HDMI1.3, CVBS, OPTICAL
Audio: L/R stereo analog audio outputing, Optical for audio source outputing.

but the pictures on the manufacturer page shown different story...

2. did you already rooted this A10 box?
(I hate to have an android device without root)

helps on this will be greately appreciated!

Hi,

Me again.

The box has Coaxial output, not optical.
As far as I know, still not rooted.
