What car dock do you guys recommend?

Check out ProClip. They make vehicle-specific mounts (a few different location options for just about all cars) which mate to phone-specific device holders. And they are not permanent in any way so no messy sticky-ness to clean off of your dashboard. They are pricey though.

I have a 2006 Si, which has an extremely sloped windshield, so the suction cup option was no good. I ended up getting the ProClip vehicle mount and the Verizon car mount. I took the phone holder off of the Verizon mount (you can slide it off of the clips rather easily) and used a few self-adhesive Velcro squares to stick the Verizon phone holder to the ProClip vehicle mount. This way the phone still enters car mode when mounted, I can still rotate the phone if I want it in landscape (un-sticking and reattaching the Velcro), and the Verizon mount was cheaper than the ProClip device holder.

I'm trying to find a way to use the ball swivel portion of the Verizon mount to give me a bit more flexibility. This would also hopefully get rid of the need for the Velcro because the phone does vibrate just a little bit because the wiggle room that the Velcro allows. I'm stuck there, any ideas?

I have a 2007 Subaru Wrx with the Pro-fit vehicle specific mount and Droid holder just to the right of my stereo. The mount is just a small black ball when nothing is attached so it's not obvious or ugly.

The holder did need some dremel work in order to allow the headset plug to fit. Other than that I am very happy with the setup. It's solid and swivels nicely.

I use the Car Dock from Verizon for the mount, but I have it attached to my Garmin Friction Mount. It works for me. I can't say if it is better or worse than any other suggestions since it is all I have used. I do think it is an expensive set up to just buy for this, but I already owned the Garmin Friction base from before.

I am using the garmin friction mount too, I already had it for my garmin gps. Still use the garmin but I like being able to mount my droid to the dash when I don't have my garmin with me.

I have both the seido dock and the motorola/verizon dock and while the seido has extra charging ports and is a *bit* more stable it is bulky. The motorola/verizon dock is much slimmer and is easier to pop the Droid in and out of, but if you have a stereo system with subs it will vibrate the Droid and confuse the accelerometer.

You interested in selling the Seido dock? Let me know?

To the OP, I would be willing to sell you my OEM dock. I guarantee it looks like brand new ... I can email you pics. $20 to your door. I love it, but it looks like the Seido dock better fits my needs.

Got my charging dock from VZW with that 35% off sale. It's really nice. I thought it would be all gloss black, but it's actually got a brushed aluminum top. Very nice. Phone fits in there perfectly and snugly. I put it a little velcro on the bottom and it's sitting on my dash right in front of my wheel for perfect viewing. Works like a CHARM! I don't know why I didn't do it earlier. IMO, better than the cardock because it's not going to fall off my window and really, the only thing that sucks is a strip of velcro on my dash. But it's temporary and velcro is cheap.

Couldn't the phone jump out of the charging dock? Sounds like trouble to me.

I can't express how much I love this. Makes my life 1000 times easier for multitasking in the car. Not too shaky either because most of the joints can be tightened to your liking. I can also flip it to portrait mode if I need to.

Make sure to get it off amazon because the ones VZW sells in stores does NOT have the car charger with it.
The magnet in the dock also flips it in and out of car mode - get "settings profile" and set up a car dock. I have my phone audibly click and a different ringtone (the austin powers ring tone).
Very nice for the $30

I know this is slightly off topic, but here goes anyways... I also bought the bundle from VZW when it was 35% off (car mount, desk dock, car charger) and i love the car and desk mount/dock...work very well. But i'm curious if anyone else who ordered the same bundle is finding that the car charger doesn't work? When i plug it into my car lighter plug the Verizon logo turns red so there's definitely juice but the phone doesn't react at all (no little white light) and not charging. Anyone else have the same experience?

I picked up the Motorola car-dock. Quick question about it: I have it stuck on my dash, with the adhesive disc, and I was wondering if there was a way to get more of those if I wanted to change the location? Any one know, or have had success moving it themselves?

I've seen them for sale at Best Buy in the car stereo section. You can pull them off, but you'll need to remove the now destroyed double stick tape and add more. I use the gray colored 3M tape. It doesn't seem to tear apart like most foam mounting tape.

Only if I get into an accident, but if I'm hitting something hard enough to jar the phone out of the dock, then it'll likely also fall off the window if it's suction cupped there. Also, though, it saves my phone from all those times suction cups fail with window temperature fluctuations. I don't know how many times my GPS has fallen off the window.

But this solution seems to work because I can bring it into my car or take it out and put it by my bedside. Two for one IMO.

Actually, I'm going to give the Charger Dock a try at being the car as well. Don't feel like mounting my precious to the car window with the number of times my GPS has fallen off. I'm thinking velcro on my dash somewhere.

Although my Garmin mount has fallen off the windshield like once a week, I haven't had the Droid mount fall off once. It's a bigger suction cup and seems to be a lot stronger.
I've also never had the phone itself fall out of the mount. Unless you're beating the hell out of the thing, it works great.

That may be, but I like the flexibility of being able to take my dock into the house. Plus, for the same price, I got another data cable and plug adapter. It works for me, and like I said, short of a major collision, the phone isn't going anywhere. It's pretty snug in there.
