i was wondering what governers and settings you guys are all using for this kernal? i know each phone is different but i want to try and get a basic idea for about where i should be running it. i just flashed it yesterday and am getting so serious battery drain issues hopefully letting it set in a few days will fix this. also i running mik 3.0 and as soon as i reach 100% i plan on doing a battery stats wipe.

Your just going to have to play with it and find what works for you. I haven't jumped over to sense to use it yet

and, a friendly reminder, make sure "set at boot" is unchecked while you are trying out the different governors... if your phone doesn't like a certain governor then you can get into boot loops... make sure your phone likes that governor before you check that... recently happened to myself, "noob mistake", and only fix was to uninstall setcpu and start over... like granite said above, overclocking will make your phone fly but you do pay for it in battery life, no way around that...

speaking of overclocking and anthrax, I think he's still working on some of the governors, because from what I've seen on smartass and interactivex, the phone never goes above the stock 998. and smartass in particular almost never goes above 499. that's really nice for battery life, but I'd like to make use of my full cpu when it's needed so for now I'm sticking with ondemand, with a tasker profile to switch to performance when I'm using a streaming/video intensive app.

battery life at home not actually using any of those apps too much I'm seeing about the same life I was getting with freedom, but much better battery management when my phone is sleeping. it's dropping about 1% an hour overnight (probably less in reality, but I have a profile set to download agps data in the morning that uses the gps status app and turns on my GPS for a couple minutes. from midnight to 5:30 it didn't drop a single percentage point.)

I'm interested in seeing his new governor intellianthrax or whatever he called it. Hopefully his cat gets better soon so he can get back to working hard for my benefit

I think InteractiveX is better that Smartass on this kernel.

If I use System Tuner or SetCPU with the governor on Smartass and watch my clock speeds while the phone is just sitting there, on Smartass it will fluctuate....sit at the min of 245, then up to 384, eventually up to max, then cycle back down...then back up and back down....like it won't just settle the processor speed at 245 while the phone is just sitting there doing nothing. With InteractiveX it works just like I would expect. Maybe Smartass always acts this way and I just didn't realize it until now, but I figure it's probably just an issue with the governor since the kernel is fairly new.

So basically, just use InteractiveX with the default settings. It's plenty fast. And if you want to save on some battery, clock your max setting down to 768. I notice none to very little performance drop off by doing this.

i am using the interactivex gov set at 245/768 and i am still getting a lot of battery drain. looks like i am going to have to change it up again. i was on more freedom and it was great but switched over to this cuz phone was freezing up while taking pictures and if recording a video it would record really jerky vids. anyone else suggest another kernel to try?

after 10 hours, down to 17%!!!! What am I doing wrong, or is this not the kernel for my EVO?!?

Healthy and Happy New Year to all!!:)

it's possible that your phone just hates this kernel. is your phone sleeping properly? do you have battery monitor widget? if so, what does your history show?

re: your phone seizing during video/camera activity, you have your phone underclocked. have you tried returning it to 998 and changing your governor to ondemand or performance? in my experience camera activity is pretty CPU intensive

yeah i figured that and when i go back to 998 i get random infinate bootloops but thats was when i was using more freedom. since switching over to anthrax the camera works fine but just getting lots of battery drain. i switched over to chopsuey for a while to see if this helps i think my phone just hates anthrax.

I just noticed that there is a new version of AnthraX-2.6.38.8-REV_zzzTEST.zzz009.zip

What is new with this, should we flash the new version??

Just downloaded it, I'm going to try it....

from xda:

CHANGELOG:
BUILD 9 (zzzTESTzzz VERSION)
-REMOVED INTELLIANTHRAX
-REMOVED SOME SYSFS STUFF
-FIXED TYPO IN FRAMEBUFFER CODE
-MOVED CIFS TO AN EXTERNAL MODULE

BUILD 9 (SPECIFIC TO EVO 4G) (UN-RELEASED - STILL HAD SOME ISSUES)
-Compiled with -Os optimization - fixes no boot issues (-o2 was too big, and -o3 was WAY too big)
-fixed HDMI
-added my single threaded version of intellianthrax
-FSB and GPU clock speeds set to qualcomm spec, not htc
-CIQ emulation enabled - what a bitch that was for this phone
-Opened SYSFS for full UC/OV
-Updated Audio Drivers to provide BEATS like sound in AOSP without BEATS in the rom (close, but not the same as full rom support)
-> this will help roms without BEATS sound support to sound better as well
-AOSP Kernel will have full ICS HW Accel (2D and 3D) OpenGL 2.1

IMHO, it's always worth flashing the new version to at least try it out. Just make a nandroid backup first, that way you can go back to your previous setup if you don't like it for some reason.
