HELP! want to schedule my backups

Hi every one!
I just switched to android (bought HTC Desire with android 2.1), so far its a good experience.
I am looking for an application which can backup data after regular interval. In other words, i need an application which daily backups my contacts. I create some sort of schedule in which i provide time and data to backup (i.e. my contacts, sms' etc) and it backups my contacts daily on specified time automatically without bothering me, as i am new to android and still trying different things so don't wana loose my data especially my contacts.
Is any such app available in market?
Thanks!

Thanks for reply

... just sync to Google. It will back up at least once a day I think, and backup the contact the moment you click on save when editing or adding one.

Syncing to google is good option, will it sync my phone and sim contacts along with gmail contacts? Plus, will it backup my other data? (i.e. messaging, bookmarks etc) as i sure dont wana loose any of my data...

Google only syncs Gmail contacts, and calendar. All my phone contacts are registered as Gmail, and labeled as phone. Seriously though, I don't really know why people still use SIM contacts. Just put everything in Gmail. You can make a dummy Gmail account for backing up contacts and calendar to. You can also backup SMS to Gmail but you'll need another app called SMS Backup and Restore +. As for bookmarks, not really sure, since I sync my bookmarks to Chrome on my PC.

Right! I am planning to copy all my contacts to gmail, but right now, i am focusing more on exploring my phone.

You can also backup SMS to Gmail but you'll need another app called SMS Backup and Restore +

so it means there is no single app which can backup all necessary data at regular intervals, 'cause i wana backup my messaging, contacts, call logs, playlist, alarms etc. I want app to select all these items and then backup them at regular intervals.

I tried Titanium Backup, but it says it works on rooted devices. right now i am googling what is rooted device... :p

Rooted device, in the barest and simplest terms, is a Linux device (Android is a Linux shell) where you have "root access", which is equivalent to "admin access" on PC. You know how inside the Program Files folder in a PC you need admin rights to be able to copy or paste into it? Its sort of the same thing.

Titanium is that single app you are looking for. Then you pair it with DropBox or Sugarsync so you have an offsite backup. On Titanium Pro (paid), there is a batch action where it can just backup the entire phone.

Thanks for such simple explanation of rooted devices. I am certain that my HTC Desire is not rooted, atleast i don't know if it is! :p but when i tried to install Titanium it won't allow me to install, says : "only for rooted devices" so my device is not rooted i guess?? :S

so other option is my backup pro, does it also work on rooted device only??
