Samsung Galaxy S III will not launch at MWC next month thanks xtop!
According to theverge.com, "We're hearing from people familiar with the matter that Samsung

i was reading today that they are looking to intro an 8gig 'entry level' version to compete with the 8gig iphone 4/4s. apparently some felt the normal gs2 was too expensive and opted for the iphones. according to what i read the 8gig will also be arriving with an sd slot. but again its allllll speculation and anyone can make up anything!

Actually the iPhone 4S is pretty comparable to price to the GSII here in the States.
Is that contract price or for the handset? They've started giving iPhones away free on contract in the UK, but their handsets are still one of the most (if not, the) expensive. I wonder how long consumers will continue to pay over the odds for a device that is technically inferior to so many phones on the market now.

There is no doubt in my mind that the phone will be fully revealed at MWC in late February. I just hope Samsung plans to do a simultaneous world release or at least bring it to the states prior to the phone being on the market for 8 months internationally. I haven't even had my GS II for 6 months and I'm already planning to make a day one purchase, if it is LTE enabled that is.

I'd prefer Dual Core Cortex A15 to Quad Core A9, so I hope your wrong there.

i'm with you there. dual a15's are faster than quad a9's, but i don't think they'll be ready in time :/ would love to be wrong though. curious to see if they go with a high clocked dual a9 or lower clocked quad a9. that exynos 5250 would be ideal in my book, but i think that's more for tablets

it's nice to see they're going to commit to better battery life. Samsung commits to improve smartphone battery life in 2012 - Engadget

it'd be great to see them do something like moto did with the razr and jam a huge battery in. but if not, at least the 2nd gen lte chips are easier on the batteries.

I'm with you on that. The GS3 will more likely be my next device. The GS2 was a smash hit. The U.S. carriers need to understand that and work with Samsung to get the GS3 earlier this year....not 5-6 months later.

Do we know yet if this phone will be released on Verizon?

If so I'll wait for it, if not I'm grabbing the Nexus.

Yes, unfortunately any news article you read now is PURE speculation. Hopefully the official announcement will be at the Mobile World Congress the last week of February. That's when the SG2 was announced last year.

I'm also waiting on any Verizon news with the SG3 so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Well Samsung stopped making the 'original' Galaxy SIIs recently, now instead of GT-i9100 there's the GT-i9100G model, which comes with an outsourced chipset. I figure this means Samsung have shifted their internal chipmaking onto something new, for me it points to CPUs/GPUs for the S3.

Not sure when they started pushing out the G model though, could've been two weeks ago or two months?

My SII is great, I kept it on 2.3.3 and maintain the original Market app, the only problem I've had is the call quality thing which has started up recently, just need to pop open the shell and 'put that stuff in' to fix it when I can be bothered. In order for me to get an S3 it'll have to be quite special, I'd be looking for:
*Camera: More megapixels, Better sensor, 1080p @ 60fps.
*At least 1.8 Ghz (I'm being generous) and quad core.
*720p screen
*Must have better HSPA+, or even better, 4G LTE.
*USB 3.0
I don't think I'm asking for too much at all.

The USB speed phone wars should be interesting for 2012, I've always been adamant that the iP5 will come with thunderbolt/lightpeak, which is twice the transfer speed of USB 3.0.
Some flagship phones will probably be left behind, getting released with 2.0, and though I think the S3 should and will come with 3.0 to compete with the iP5, but I'm starting to wonder if Apple will actually put thunderbolt on it, as we all know how much they love their special flat/wide port. I'm guessing it will have both, as the iP5 can use it as an exclusive drawcard while also not rendering current apple products obselete.

I think we might be looking at an August showdown with S3 and iP5?

Well I know they opted out of the GS II for the Galaxy Nexus....they might have their own version of it, but I, personally, doubt it.
yeah, Verizon was almost a year late to the SG2 party, which they just released as the Nexus.

So, seems like they may block a SG3, or delay it as the not compete with the Nexus. Unfortunately, TMobile may do the same since they also just released the SG2.

So, for carriers delaying phone models, F$ck off! ruining things for us folks in the US>

August? Really??

Well, I disagree on it but you may be right. Galaxy S II have to launch in late September because they have to redesign the handset to avoid lawsuit to Apple. Do you notice that they redesign the home button to capacitive touch for the US version? Well, this year you'd surprise that they launch US in much much earlier compare last year. Verzion Galaxy Nexus is a sucess. Samsung know they have to launch earlier to attract customers. Now, based on my opinion, Galaxy S III will remove all the home buttons just like GN. Therefore, you will know why 2012 won't be 2012 : }

I can't wait for this power house beauty. No one will be able to touch quad core Exynos for a while this year. Hopefully it makes into US quicker than SGSII did last year. I think it was hindered by lack of LTE, especially on verizon. But this one is supposedly coming with LTE on board from get go, so it will go easier for verizon.

dual a15's are due sometime between summer and the end of the year, and will handily beat quad a9's. don't expect it to remain the fastest for long. but yes, we better not have to wait until fall again
