When Google says it's ok, as soon as that happens, ICS will be here. There's no way that this tablet can be held back getting ICS.

The sooner the better! End of January sounds good to me. I think the performance boost from ICS will make this tablet work better than it is with Honeycomb. Unfortunately, as Matias said, Honeycomb really wasn't a finished product when it was released.

As an owner of a Thunderbolt, I'm very skeptical when it comes to software releases lol. I'm expecting late February to mid March. If it comes out any sooner I'll be very happy, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I own a TBolt also but you have to remember that this is ASUS and not HTC. They have been very good at releasing updates for the Transformer, so there is no reason to think it will be different for the Prime. Remember also that this is a tablet that is not connected to a provider like Verizon. The updates come directly from ASUS. Those factors should help get the update to ICS sooner.

My thoughts exactly - from MOST of the reviews I'm reading, this thing just isn't that "hot" with Honeycomb.

If my tablet (which is due to arrive any moment now) doesn't get an update within 30 days - it's going back. I just can't make an informed decision on a tablet that's "supposed" to be much better with a piece of software - that just keeps getting pushed back more and more...

You read my mind. My real concern is, what if there are several weeks/months of bugginess with ICS when it first comes out? I typically steer away from new releases of hardware and software, and I am now being reminded why.

Say I deal with how it's working now until ICS comes out, and that ends up not happening until February. If there are problems there that take several weeks/months to iron out, it could easily be June before I have a tablet working the way I had hoped.

It's good to see Asus hopping on the updates like they did recently, but I still really don't know what I will have down the road with this tablet.

Well you can always sell it.Then go & buy something new.But I've seen videos of ICS running on the XOOM & it's fast.I've also seen a video of a browser test done with galaxy nexus vs the iPhone 4s.The galaxy nexus won every time on page rendering & scrolling. That alone tells you that ICS is going to be better than ios.

This is very true guys, ICS could be a bug fest. But hopefully not and the longer it takes to land in theory the better the release should be... But at the same time I don't want to be waiting months for the release!

ICS won't be released to the Prime until Asus is done putting their stank on it, not Google.

I just got mine! It just arrived!!! UPS, unceremoniously left the box in my porch. They didn't even ring the bell. But I got it!

If it's laggy on Honeycomb - then I'll just get something that's not laggy. A laggy quad-core tablet is most definitely "cold" in my book - but then again, maybe I just have higher expectations out of the supposed "best tablet out there"...

this is the first tablet i've owned, but compared to others i've used (demo, borrow), it's no worse than them. on top of that, there is an update coming and it's already been said that honeycomb is not designed for a quad core processor. we all know ICS is out there and is coming. plus, i look at everthing this tablet has to offer - microsd slot, mini hdmi, 32 gb - all for the price, or slightly more than equivelant 16gb tablets out there right now, they may or may not run ICS.

Mine will be waiting for me when I get home. I'm pumped. Bought a Samsung 10.1 over Christmas break as a rental til this baby got here and it turns out the wifey loves that tablet so she'll keep that one and the TP is MINE! Can't wait to get home.

For example the Citrix client for connecting to my work apps doesn't work yet, and my .chm reader that I use practically daily is super buggy.

I too got the Nexus on Launch Day and I hear what you are saying. I absolutely LOVE the phone, but have experienced issues regarding apps not being optimized yet for ICS. A problem I can deal with as I understand that comes with being an early adopter, but TOTALLY hear what you are saying.

I imagine we will run into the same thing when our TP gets updated to ICS.
