Help Pandora Crashing Nexus?

I did some searches and was unable to find any mention of this...

Has anyone else noticed their Nexus crashing while listening to Pandora over 3G/4G? Mine does a couple times an hour. I'll be listening and the phone just shuts down. To get it to restart have have to press and hold the power button a few times until I hear an audible click, and then it starts back up on the next press of the power button.

I listen to Pandora most of the day at work, so this is becoming pretty annoying.

What have you tried so far? Uninstalling/Reinstalling? Battery Pull? I've been using it since day one with my Nex, both on WiFi and also over 3G. I don't have 4G in my area to worry about, but I've never had it crash the phone or even force close on me yet.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled and done a battery pull. Haven't tried listening over WiFi - just 3G/4G. Currently running ver 1.5.15, which seems to be the most current Free version.

I have only noticed it stops playing when the signal changes 3g to 4g to wifi. Quite annoying. Need to unlock and tap the play button to resume.

Can any of the physical buttons be used to skip? Holding volume up for 2 seconds skipped to the next song on my old blackberry.

not that I've found, the button on the stock ear plugs will pause/un-pause

Mine does this as well, and while listening to Sirius. I used to do what you did and hit the power button. I don't think that matters. If you wait it will reboot itself. It definitely sucks.

Ive had Pandora and Slacker stop streaming for unknown reasons (on my Fascinate), but they never outright crashed.

Been using Pandora the last 2 days on my GNex and its actually a lot more stable. Its randomly stopped streaming a couple times (note the phone isnt moving, just sitting here on my desk, so its not a 3G/4G/Wifi thing) but its still far better than it was on my Fascinate.

Ive always attributed those oddities to the apps themselves. There are all sorts of complaints about the Slacker app, Pandora seems a bit more stable but Slacker tends to have more fresh and random content.

Oddly enough the same quirks that existed with my Fascinate using bluetooth in my car also exist in the GNex: shut the car off and streaming doesnt automatically pause. Press pause before shutting the car off and then a "Play" automatically gets sent to the phone so it keeps playing after the car is shut off, etc. On the Fasci. some kernels were better than others, so Im guessing as more ROMs and kernels come out for the GNex small quirks like this will be resolved.

I've noticed that pandora sometimes have processes running and cached process running in the background even if you never launched the app. I noticed this when I first installed pandora but didn't even launch it for a week but kept seeing it show up in running process.

Maybe if you are having problems go into running process, clear the data and stop each of the processes. Then click on showed cached process at the bottom of the screen and kill those as well.

I use pandora every other day. So far I have not had any crashes. My data connection however has not lose signal so maybe its related to that.

I've had this problem ever since I installed the Pandora App. I have a 1 hour commute to/from work and I get a crash/reboot almost every time. Sometimes, like this morning, I get several. I thought the newest update might have resolved this issue but it's still crashing on me.

I usually have it charging while in the car too. I thought that might be an issue since I'm using an old blackberry car charger. Will test and report back, though I'm fairly certain it's a stability problem with Pandora.

This happened to me for the first time yesterday. I was trying to skip to a new song while one was playing, and pressing the button on the screen to "skip" immediately shut the phone down.

I haven't had problems with this in the past on this phone, so here's hoping it was an isolated incident. Like another poster said, I had to hold the power button multiple times to get the thing to reboot. It was a bit strange...

Update: I've was able to steam pandora all the way home last night and all the way to work this morning without a crash. I did not plug it into my charger was my only change for troubleshooting purposes.

Can anyone else report if they are crashing while charging or vise versa?

For the record: I'm using an old Blackberry car charger so maybe the amperage is different than what's required for the Gnex? Or maybe still an issue with Pandora and I got lucky?

Update 2: I'm crashing while not charging too. Happened yesterday coming home from work. Plugged in the audio out cable, started streaming Pandora, 1 minute later it rebooted. Guess it's back to the drawing board.

Both Pandora and SeriusXM will crash while I am streaming over 3g/4g when I have the charger plugged in at my desk at work. I can go all day without a crash if I leave the charger off. Well, at least until lunch and then I have to stop and plug the phone in to charge the battery. Streaming sure does use a lot of juice!

I think we need to clarify exactly what is happening when everyone says "crash".

Does the phone freeze? Reboot by itself? Does the app just close? Force close? Stop streaming audio?

Ive had issues with Pandora and Slacker randomly stop streaming on all phones Ive tried it on, although a little less so with the GNex. I blame the apps, personally. My phone performs flawlessly with everything else Ive thrown at it, including never rebooting for no reason (actually it did it once, because I had a custom kernel installed without clearing the cruft from a previous UV/OC)

I think they are referring to phone rebooting.
