Help Pop3 email stops auto checking

I didn't care for the built in pop client. There's a fork called k-9 mail that seems to work much better. The beta version has some quirkiness on the moment when in landscape, but it's IMHO the best client available on Android right now.

I just downloaded the K-9 app. You are right, it is so much better than the default app. Good call and thanks for the suggestion.

Cool! So far I am liking it (still setting up all of my accounts). But it's driving my anti-virus NUTS.

I've had a similar issue happen several times. Emails just stop synching. I try to synch manually (long press on account, then Refresh) but it doesn't do anything.
The only way to get the emails flowing again is to power down and reboot. Then it works for a day or two and stops again. Any ideas?

Still having this problem... email seems to come in fine and then it just stops. The only thing that gets it going again is powering the Droid down and up again (full reboot).
I also noticed that sometimes, when I go from one connection area to another, the mail app comes to life and downloads email for a while (like when moving between my home network to the wifi at a coffee shop.

Anybody has any ideas? has this been discussed anywhere?

I know it's not exactly the answer everyone's looking for, but my suggestion to try K-9 mail still stands. It still seems to be the best POP/IMAP option available for Android.

If you're running an old version, you should think about updating it. In addition to being faster, the new version includes multi-select now.

I downloaded K9 over the weekend per a suggestion from this forum. It works quite a bit better than the default POP3 mail application. I still notice that it doesn't 100% reliably retrieve my messages every 15 minutes but it's a lot better than the default app.

How many accounts are you dealing with? I noticed that they pull at the same time and that can create a lock up where it logs out of one when another starts. Same problem with my Touch Pro2... I had to set different accounts to different intervals. Very strange...

Actually, that's another feature of the new version of K9 that I forgot to mention. If you're using IMAP, it uses the IMAP-IDLE technique for real time email. If you have this set up, it doesn't poll your email regularly, but rather emails are pushed actively to your phone when they arrive.

That is so sweet... Unfortunately, I have a personal POP3 email (verizon.net), a personal (hotmail.com), and 4 business POP3 emails... I only have IMAP on my Gmail as far as I know, which I only got a few days ago with my Moment.

The stock program is not terrible for me, but I am getting a false message indicator on my verizon.net account... Says 2 new messages and the boxes are all cleared? Oh well... Where's my 2.1 update!?!
