Anyway to view HD vidoes on Youtube?

When I had my Galaxy Nexus and I selected an HD Video from Youtube, the videos looked AMAZING! When I got the Rezound and selected the same video, it was only in high quality, but not real HD. I know both phones have the same screen resolution, so that can't be the problem. Could it be that the default Youtube app in Gingerbread doesn't support real HD videos whereas the ICS version does?

Nope, the videos are already playing in HQ but not in HD. I'm telling you, there is a night and day difference when viewing HD videos on the G-Nex compared to the Rez. But I believe that is to do with the Youtube App on Gingerbread vs ICS. Hmm... anyone have a G-Nex and can confirm? This version of Youtube on the Rez is 2.3.4

I ran into this as well and it was annoying the heck out of me.

I noticed that even from the stock browser, youtube vids want to launch in the youtube app, even if you tell it to use the browser to perform the action. You can try copying and pasting or forcing the yt link into the browser address bar, it still wants to run the yt app for some reason.

So what I did was go to the youtube full site directly, then located the video I wanted, and then I can select the resolution and go fullscreen.

HUGE difference and the HD stuff looks amazing. You'll know you're viewing in full HD glory as the play bar and menu options at the bottom of the screen will be super small.

Still haven't figured out a way to get it just go to full HD in a single click, but I need to get back in there and monkey with the settings.

I couldn't even figure out how to do it on the browser.

I found this but can't seem to open the apk to install it correctly... HD version YouTube.apk - xda-developers

Yeah, must be a different version of the Youtube app that differs from the Gingerbread version.
