Root NVIDIA Tegra (HD) Games - How to: Esteem

Want to play Tegra 2 (nvidia HD) Games on your Esteem? Here's how:

1. Your phone must be rooted! (install PlaugeKernel for better preformance)

2. Download Chainfire3D (you will need the free & paid-->(to unlock features) version for this).

3. Download Plugins (scroll down until you see a post from spinnakernut which has each plugin you will need. (NVIDIA, POWERVR, QUALCOMM)

4. Connect your phone to your PC; USB Debug (on), Connection - Internet Connection. And transfer the .zip plugins to the root of your _external SD card!

5. Once you have done steps 1-4, open Chainfire3D.

6. Click on CF3D Driver (install it)

7. Now Chainfire3D is setup to install the downloaded plugins.

8. Select "install plugins/Shaders" it will scan your SD card and if you've placed the .zip plugins in the root of your _external SD card, CF3D will find them.

9. Click on each zip to install those specific drivers; NVIDIA driver, Qualcomm driver, Powervr driver.

10. AFTER you have installed those drivers, go back to CF3D main menu and click on "Fix Market settings".

11. Now download a Tegra Game (for example) - Samurai II: Vengeance.

12. After the game is installed *BEFORE YOU OPEN IT* you will need to go into Chainfire3D again.

13. Click on "Per-app OpenGL Settings"

14. Scroll through the 'other apps' list and find Samurai II: Vengeance (or any other THD game you have installed).

15. Once you've selected the game, a new menu will open up. UNCHECK 'use default settings'. Then scroll down and click on "Use Plugin" and select the NVIDIA Plugin. (all THD games will need these steps to use nvidia plugin to actually play the game correctly or at all).

16. Also CHECK "Hide CF3D ID" (for all THD games).

After you have done these steps (which seem like a lot but it's really not, I just broke it down; move by move) you can now open your Tegra 2 (THD NVIDIA powered games) games and play them on the LG Esteem!

Is it a Tegra 2 or 3 game? or not at all. It's important to know if it is or is not.

Just a heads up, Samurai II works without chainfire 3D. And yes this method will work but i assume its for some people as I have already tried this and some games still didnt work and the "Fix Market Settings" didnt do a thing. Have no idea why.

There are several games that work without the 'tegra' chip/drivers because the developers programed for non-tegra games. There is a Samurai II: Vengance THD (Tegra HD) which if you try to play with out the nvidia drivers, it won't even load.

There's ShadowGun..which will play without chainfire3d and then there's ShadownGun Enchanced which 'requires' the tegra chip which chainfire3d will 'fix'

Some games may not work correctly which I'm trying to find a fix for..

Games that work with this CF3D method: (that are TRUE Tegra THD games).

Samuari II: Vengance THD
Shadowgun Enchanced THD
Riptide THD
Pinball THD
Fruit ninja THD
Backbreaker THD

Theoretically it should work. Chainfire is meant to be a universal driver for high-end phones with 1ghz processors or higher. If the indulge has a 1ghz processor( not to be mixed with overclockable to 1ghz) then it should work. If not, still worth a shot.

I've mange to play all these games with out installing chainfire. all you need is an all device apk and you good to go. and with the new rom and setcpu no more forceclosed for me

I just look for an all device apk verison of the game works like a charm


shawdogun was the only one force closing on me like crazy. since the rom and setcpu i can play it for an hr with no problem. now its asphalt 6 that's acting up but i'll look for a different version lol.


games that i have that plays with no problems are/ Gt racing HD, Pocket God, Shadowgun, Stupid zombies, TurboFly Fly 3D, Need for speed Shift, Angry Birds Rio, Samurai 2 Vengence HD, N.O.V.A. nova was giving me a blank white screen at first. i found an all device apk. runs super smooth.
