Iphone does these things better

I love my Android much more than Apple but these are things I expected Android to have figured out when I made the switch. Hopefully there are ways to do these things.

1. The red numbers that appear in the upper right of each app relaying the amount of emails/messages/updates/whatever.

2. You can't swipe to the right to delete, say with a calendar appointment or an email. In some apps such as Words With Friends you can hold to delete but swiping is still faster. This requires at least two more clicks.

3. Gmail won't auto refresh when the app is opened. I want to have auto email syncing disabled to save battery and just refresh thru gmail, but this requires two extra clicks. No clue why it won't auto refreshed when opened, seems like the most obvious feature ever.

4. In Gmail, you cant see all your email addresses' inboxes at once. Perhaps there is a superior email app to fix #3 and #4?

5. I do not get all notifications for apps like Words With Friends. What the f Andriod? This is really annoying.

6. Iphone calendar is far superior. If i want to scroll back a few dates the message at the top says "showing events since....". This requires extra clicks. Also, if you scroll to an older date and then delete sometime, it jumps you back to a more current date.

Realize that these things that you are asking for are personal preference. Apple and Android were created differently and given the ability to evolve over time through usage and their respective app markets. Neither is necessarily trying to BE the other, just dominate the other.

Yes, there are a few things that Apple does better than Android, like having a very small learning curve. But again, Android has made a name for itself by NOT being iOS. I am not berating you by any means because I came from the iPhone 3gs and understand that there are a few things different but once you get to know the Android OS, I am sure you will like it here :)

Are there really no notification badges (red numbers on upper right of icon) for Android?

No they have opted to put the numbers in the notification bar instead. Handsent (text messaging app) allows you to do this in the not. bar but as for apps with a number on them, not without root and even then I don't know if it would work.

Here are my thoughts:

1) Disagree. Since iOS only has where you can only place apps on the home screens, this feature works best for it. Android has it much better because it can have apps and widgets. The notification is much better since you can see what apps and how many notifications you have in one place, no matter what app your in. (Can't do that with iOS.)

2) I agree that iOS is faster, but don't think its best. I use my phone mostly in one hand, so when going thru e-mails, etc. I prefer to be able to long press then select delete. Also, you can multi select in certain apps to delete at one press.

3) On my Atrix 4G, when I open the email app. It refreshes automatically.

4) This might be depending on phone manufacture. On my phone, I have a stock messaging app that includes all my email inboxes, social media updates and text messages all in one place.

5) You might have to check your notification setting of the phone and the specific app. Make sure there is no conflict between apps.

6) Actually, my stock cal app let me view my Cal. by: day, agenda, week and month view in scolling view. You have to select "Show Today" when you look at other dates, when you want to get back to the current date.

Notifications on Android are based on the app developers themselves making it possible for the device to get them. ESPN just recently updated their app on Android to receive notifications while the iOS version has had it for over a year.
