Help Where are thumb drives mounted in Honeycomb

I read that Honeycomb (3.2) supports USB host mode and I should be able to access a USB key/thumbdrive. I have a Motorola Xoom with 3.2 on it.

So I purchased an adapter and plugged in my USB drive. The light on the thumbdrive flashes a bit then stops, as if the system has accessed it, but I cannot find it in the filesystem.

Under the /mnt directory I have 5 subdirectories

sdcard (which is the built in 32GB memory of the Xoom)
external1 (which is the micro-sdcard I plugged into the Xoom)
asec
obb
secure

Should the USB drive appear as something here, like external2 perhaps?

What adapter did you need to buy? Does the Xoom support USB Host on the USB ports?

If it does, open your file browser and go to the top level, you should then see mnt, tap that then External_SD. That's how it is on my Iconia (which has a regular-size USB port for USB host, built in)

The adapter works and the Xoom supports host mode, because I can plug in a keyboard and use it to type into the Xoom.

I believe I detailed all the directories under /mnt in my post above. The closest to the one you mention is external1 and that is used by the microSD card plugged into the side of the tablet. It seems then that the name of the directory is manufacturer specific. Unless Xoom puts it somewhere other than under /mnt, then for some reason mine isn't mounting.

I wonder if it can't handle both the microSD and a USB thumbdrive at the same time.

I rooted my Xoom and installed the Tiamat ROM quite soon after getting my Xoom so I can't remember if this worked with the stock ROM but it definitely works on Tiamat. I did read on another forum (can't remember which but probably xoomforums.com) that someone claimed mounting an OTG disk worked on stock 3.2.

Mine mounts on /mnt/usbOTG BTW. This may be Tiamat specific or it may not.

Everything I read says 3.2 will mount USB keys, yes.

And also, yes, the mount points seem to vary with every Android setup/brand. Logically as Motorola chose /mnt/external1 for the SDcard inserted in the Xoom, it would be /mnt/external2 - but no-one seems to know - and if it is, it's not working on mine.
