Free Wireless Tether, Unrooted

Using any form of tethering that bypasses the required paid tethering plan is a violation of Verizon's TOS. Discussions of this nature cannot and are not allowed on this forum.

From the forum rules:

Tethering without required plans, working the system to return devices you broke, etc:
Tethering without a carrier required required plan is theft of services. You are stealing from the carrier. It goes beyond modifying your own personal device.

This is something we are not willing to help members do. Much like talk of how to work the system to return devices you've broke, etc. That too is theft.

Some say, "well, rooting is against the TOS, so....". Rooting, if against the TOS, could result in a suspended account. That is on you and your responsibility and we're willing to aide in letting you make that choice. It is your device, you should have that choice.

These issues aren't related to rooting in this sense and shouldn't be compared as such. This is a decision made by the owner of this privately run site, which we have the right to do and enforce.

Risking your device == ok.
Theft == not okay.

These type of discussions can result in infractions in the future.

Worked for me. And didn't Verizon get sued for doing this with bluetooth features and lose because you are not allowed to restrict the hardware capabilities of a phone the customer owns.

bluetooth, and even up to cable companies trying to charge "by the computer" that is connecting to a "landline" service.

However, your TOS with VZW do not allow this unless you have a specific plan. I'd imagine that the VZW HotSpot is working, but I don't use it. Mod was correct in this decision.

Actually I think it's more than he said, I think the TOS say you must use the VZW SOFTWARE, not just have the PLAN, but I'd have to re-read to doublecheck.

Well that is a pretty dumb policy.

As far as the policies of this forum are concerned you are free to take them up with the man who owns the site (Rob) and pays the bills any time you want.

I tired to leave this topic open so that people could discuss the issue itself if they wanted to. I see now that that was a mistake.
