I have a prime and an iPad 2 , tried the galaxy tab and have epic touch never cared for ios until how incredibly buggy, laggy and unresponsive honey comb is. Yes even on a beast of quad core that prime is supposed to be. If you were disappointed with the galaxy tab, you will also be with the prime. Until ICS comes out . Sure we have more options in Android but what good are they when they force close and are unresponsive, laggy or simply don't exist . I can't say there's something on Android that ios doesn't have other then a couple of widgets. Simply ios works extremely well is very smooth and lag free scrolling. I didn't respect ios until I actually tried the iPad2 and compared It to honeycomb. I think that's why it gets compared to it, for crying out loud iPad 2 has been out forever and in my opinion prime still isn't up to par software wise , hardware doesn't mean anything on crappy software.. if you have a Android phone don't hesitate to get the iPad 2 because you can't find a prime, most likely you won't be disappointed and you have both operating systems covered if you need an app that isn't necessarily on one or the other.

The iPad2 might "just work", but it's also BORING.

Using iOS is akin to replacing your PC desktop with an Explorer window.
The entire OS is nothing more than an app launcher.
An app launcher that's locked down and designed to pry as much money away from you as it can.
I'm just not comfortable giving my money to a company/product like that.

"I can't say there's something on Android that ios doesn't have other then a couple of widgets."

1) What???
2) Turn by Turn Navigation without monthly fee or spending $40 on an app.
3) Micro HDMI without having to buy a $40 adapter
4) Larger storage to begin with, AND removable storage without; again, having to buy yet another $40 adapter
5) A choice to select default apps for calls, texting, maps, etc...
6) Can choose different launchers, bringing whole new functionality to the UI
7) Wireless app installation. Just visit the android market, appbrain, amazon market, etc... on your PC and you can install it directly to your phone.
8) A choice of app markets
etc.. etc...

You're right that there really aren't a whole lot of things that you can do on Android that you can't do on iOS, but if you don't want to spend $40 here and $40 there after already buying your device, then the list piles up pretty high.

TLDR:
I'll take a slightly laggy customizable UI on an open system over a buttery smooth app launcher on a completely closed environment ANY day of the week.

If your so unhappy with your Prime I'll buy it off of you. I'll give you $400.00 since it's used and pay the shipping.

Trust me I want to love my prime. I don't care for ios but when practically every dam thing is catered to the iPad including websites (check out Yahoo, ABC news, Netflix, NFL direct TV, Facebook, weatherbug) . Compare them on either and there is no way with a straight face can you tell me they run better. Hell My epic touch feels smoother, I guess my biggest disappointment is honeycomb. I'm Hoping asus optimizes the browser a bit better because there is no way it should preform like this. Google is coming out with there own tablet in the next 6months until then I"ll consider this as beta, sure feels like it and hope ICS gets here fast. Regardless my prime is going back because of light bleed, few dead/stuck pixels and weak wifi signal. I have 6 month return policy with american express Samsung should have there tablet out and iPad 3 should be out as well :)

Oh can you choose what browser you want on android? Oh yes you can!

but they all suck, compared to safari lol

i dont have an apple bone in my body, but this morning i was testing my wifes ipad2 vs my prime, and the browsing experience is hands down far better on the ipad2

i have my own thoughts going on recently about ipad2 vs prime, but i have not yet made a decision. Every once in a while i snap out of it and say to myself "wtf are you thinking, apple sucks and ipad is garbage!" but then i get on my prime and the zoom isnt fluid, the scrolling stutters, and so far have seen 4 browser FC's (only owned it for 4 days)

I currently have ipad 1 and often get browser crashes. I haven't used the ipad2 enough to say. But my browser on ipad1 has loading hangups that shouldn't happen on wifi. My laptop right next to it doesn't freeze with checkerboards when loading a page...the other annoying thing the ipad browser does( prime may IDK) is when you switch between browser tabs it forces the page to completely reload. Why? Why not just store page in memory.

That said I am an android user for years on the phone side. Love the customizing aspect. Keeps boredom away.

As far as apps ... God I hate to say it but we all know its true...ipad has tons of apps that android doesn't. I'm not sure its even close really.

Ill eventually buy either prime or wait for ipad 3. I never thought the ipad 2 jump was needed. I still think graphically developers are dumbing down apps to run on single core lower ram ipad1. That's a downside to apple.

I'm on my third android phone (hero - EVO - Epic Touch) and got an ipad 2 on the week they launched. That said, I was so happy with my Epic Touch and android that I decided to sell my ipad 2 and get the prime. I played a lot of games on the ipad... I'm saddened by the lack of tablet specific games on the prime. Many games I enjoyed on the ipad (cut the rope) seem to be just phone versions scaled up on the prime. Tegra zone games, which I expected to really impress me, have failed to do so thus far. Shadowgun is fun and looks great, but looks and runs equally well on my phone (without Tegra).

Nothing I've played on my prime seems like it couldn't have been done on my ipad. Also, some of the most impressive games on my phone won't run on the prime (tintin and MC3 come to mind).

I like my prime so far but I don't love it. It is pretty laggy at times and, other than flash video, doesn't do anything my ipad 2 didn't already do. I'm hoping that with ICS next week and future games built for Tegra 3, my opinion will change.

I LOVE my Epic Touch... I want to love my prime too.

Perhaps because you had an ipad you are expecting an ipad with a different os. I had the transformer before the Prime and can safely say it is leaps and bounds ahead of the original. My wife has an i-phone4s and loves that. I cannot argue that apple make very good products with taylored software for the devices. This puts them at an advantage over android who design software for the masses. They can eak every last drop of speed from their hardware.

They do this by limiting options so they know exact states of hardware and software and can allow for that. As android is so customisable they cannot do this. It will come to android in time. I remember when my wife got her first i-phone4. I had a desire but was blown away with the gaming of the i-phone. 1 year later and android on phones has caught up. She used my galaxy s2 to play some music and was amazed at how easy it was.

The tablets will catch up and i think that like the s2 the prime will be the start of it. I do love my prime. On it now in fact.

I will say that I sold my iPad 2 to buy my TPrime. Never liked Apple products, tried it out for six months, not for me. As some others have said, Apple is boring. It's a product for the masses, not necessarily better, but more appealing. I look at Apple as the McDonalds of computer/tablets, it will feed you but it's not the best out there.

Advertising is the only thing that Apple has going for it. Their commercials should be taken as an example for Android manufactors. Awareness is the fist thing that Android manufactors need to do. Samsung has done it well, not like Apple, but the Galaxy Tab is probably more recognized that the ASUS, Acer, Tosibia combined.. why?? because of advertising.

I agree about the advertising. Apple does it very well. And honestly their success with the iphone back in the day has made there products brands now.

I think the one main factor in holding the companies back on advertising is the lack of money they can make from the app store. Google is making the 30% and apple gets their 30% so they could in theory sell the products at a loss and still make so much money.

I dont see this changing anytime soon unless google is willing to give the manufactures a cut of the add revenue.

I will agree ref McDonalds. But Apple is a lot more than just advertising. They have a good product....just like McDonalds. McDonalds is the market leader because people know EXACTLY what they are getting...every single time. Same goes with Apple...consistency! Apple is one company so their quality control is MUCH better whereas with Android devices, it is hit and miss(I personally think HTC is best in this department....and Moto as well).

Apple is not as rock solid as everyone thinks. I learned that with my ipad2. Check out the forums talking about the ipads. Same stuff you find here talking about Android's errors and shortcomings.

I personally think McDonalds is food is nasty. I will take Five Guys anyday over MCD, but I had to venture out of what everyone else was eating to figure out what I had been eating all along was really not that great.

Just for the record, I was not talking about their food....I was talking about their market position.

Thanks, that's hilarious! You could easily replace "iPad 2" with "Prime" in those threads...

Ever heard "the grass isn't always greener...?" :)

No device is perfect and this clearly makes that point. :)

seems like anytime there is something new, no matter if it's electronics, automobiles, etc..., that is highly anticipated, one it arrives there will be groups that gripe. yet, many times, months later, you will find these same people liking the same product they griped about. i spent a lot of time in some golf forums. would be the same thing there. gripe, gripe, gripe and then suddenly they have it themselves, or wish they hadn't sold it/returned it.

is the tablet perfect? no, but are there complaints about every other tablet out there? yes. i did a lot of homework on the tablets and had decided on the original prime, then came accross an article of a new one and decided to wait. i am happy i did and enjoy my prime. do i wish it was better? yes. do i wish it had things others do? yes. do those other things lack things the prime has that i wish they did? yes. in the end, for me and what i want i wanted out of a tablet, the prime hit on more things than any other tablet out there, for me.

Exactly! I waited a long time before jumping on the tablet bandwagon. The original Transformer got my attention but I decided to wait a bit more to see what Google did with the OS. With the launch of ICS and the first quad-core tablet, I decided to take the plunge and I'm quite happy I did. This is a nice tablet and it does everything I need it to do. And the keyboard just closes the deal! :)

Yep, I was in the market for a tablet this year and I'm happy we made the purchase. Very satisfied:D
