Sprint Hero 2

I'm shocked to see no threads about the Sprint Hero 2 that some web sites started reporting on today.

Looks like a cool phone, just wish they processor was more beefy. I may have to skip it and just get the Supersonic.

AT&T Getting HTC Desire, Sprint Getting Hero 2? | Android Phone Fans

Think you are a little late, the rumors of the legend being the hero 2 have been out for a while. There are plenty of videos on youtube of it in action. Its nice, but sprint is also coming out with a more powerful phone that trumps the N1, its called the HTC supersonic.

If this thing drops around the same time as the rumored Supersonic, there would be no reason to get it, short of pricing / plans (which may be a big factor, i.e. how much is 4G gonna cost?). Only a marginally faster processor. The housing is nice, but not enough to make it a "must have".

I wonder if Sprint would make them take the chin away, in much the same way the did for the European vs US Hero 1?

Probably because its just another rumor from a random phone website quoting an anonymous source. There are tons of these  Wont believe it until Sprint makes an official announcement because HTC just said last week they didnt have plans to bring either phone to the US.

Passed the FCC today and the labeling clearly shows a sim card slot. Obviously NOT for Sprint......end of rumor.

You are right a phone with a sim card will never make it to the Sprint network. The original GSM Hero had a sim card and wait, what do I have in my hand now? LOL

yea, 4 months after it came out in Europe. The Legend doesnt come out in Europe till April. Sprint is going to bring out a 3.2 inch dispaly, 600Ghz phone running 2.1 in...August? Please. Everyone else will be coming out with 4.3 inch, Snapdragon equipped phones running 2.5 by then

that is what the droid is clocked at and it is MUCH faster... it's about the TYPE of proccessor in phones NOT the clock speed, that is for computer CPU comparison, and even then you gotta look, SC, hyperthreaded, dual core, quad core... p1 p2 p3 p4...

All processors have always been this way. I agree with what you said, so this is to the rest of them....

You guys are ******ed. Do you think Sprint is releasing the "Hero 2" whatever that may end up being, so that the existing Hero users buy it? Even if the specs are very similar, most people don't know the specs. Even if they're the "same," they can still perform very differently. The vast majority of people that buy phones buy them based on a few apps they want to use, styling, and price. How many people do you think even use wifi on the hero? Probably everyone here, but still a minority. Do you think putting a wireless N NIC in a phone would help it sell? Not enough more to justify ALL phones to have one.

I love sprint and hope they pull their heads out of their asses to keep their head above water, but they will not do that by having one type of phone. Even if they release this on the same day as the supersonic, there are people that simply do not want an enormous phone. We do of course, but ask your girlfriends/wives/etc if they want that. My girlfriend has the moment and was excited because it had a french to english translation app...she's far from a simpleton too.

btw, I meant no offense by calling you guys ******ed. There will always be high end phones for us, but there must also be lower end smart phones and dumb phones for a wireless carrier to survive.

man I hate that. ******ed = mentally challenged. Sorry androidforums, I don't think P.C. enough before posting ;)

I applaud these forums for keeping it 'pc'.

As for the Hero 2 I don't think its enough of an upgrade to justify switching, assuming it goes to Sprint. Bring on the Supersonic. If its as good as I am hoping I will buy it out of contract even if I have to sell a lung (or two-- breathing is overrated anyways)
