Strange stuff with 4g in NYC?

So I'm in the Bronx visiting my aunt in the hospital...from her room on the 11th floor, I have 4 bars of 4g and am getting close to 20 down/8 up. From white castle nearby, I'm down to 1 bar and .5 down / .8 up (3g was actually faster). From her house I have 1 bar, 6 down / .5 up...

No more than a mile radius around the three places...anyone else seen this kind of weirdness?

Yes, I did observe that on my Nexus when I had it. I think others have not seen this, so it may be worth exchanging it to see if you get one that better handles building penetration. The two I had were terrible once I entered a building. But it may just be a problem with certain batch(es) of the phone, dunno.

Not scientific by any means. I live in northern CA. Have been getting upper 20s mainly 26-29 mbps on 4G here. Spent 1.5 weeks in NY, couldn't get a 4g connection above 15mbps. In fact just trying to get a 4g connection was a challenge. Return home and back to upper 20s. 4G pops up much quicker when I'm switching between 3G and 4G here than it was in manhattan and brooklyn.

After the last outage, LTE service is noticeably slower in NYC according to my own testing.

Which if Verizon has made changes that decreased the throughput in some areas to balance their backhaul loads to make the network more stable: kudos to Verizon! Personally, and a slight aside, I would be happy as a clam if the network was more stable and all the throughput I got everywhere I went with mid-strength signal was 10 Mbs down and 5 Mbs up.

Why did you exchange yours? I am trying to decide if I should try to exchange mine, AGAIN!

The screen had bad vertical stripes really annoying on gray colors and also multi touch sensitivity issues. I bought it on vzw.com and was just stopping by verizon local store. Didn't really believe they would exchange it. They were glad to do so.
Also they told me that gn is selling way better than razor or resound.

Nah I was getting the same peak speeds on my old Nexus. See my earlier posts. Same network performance...

Oops, sorry. I saw your reply to a comment that said to exchange to see if it helped network issues and assumed you were having network problems prior to the exchange and that it was the reason for your exchange. Didn't read carefully enough to see that it was the other person having slowness not you.

Last four are results from today...downloads are alright but uploads not so much, at least not from my aunts house (the last two tests)...

I also had "network communication issues" show up once when running tests, but immediately pressing the button again after that the test ran fine...
