apps are you friend, I'm not sure which apps the others are using but im using "go launcher"
I tried a few others found right now i like this one, it's can be customized as well as there are a bunch of themes that can be downloaded and installed most of which are free.
I current use go contacts, and go locker as well. If you search the app market you will find a big selection to choose from.
Biggest selling point on using these for me was that none of them had issues running on my warp as i found some other launchers did.
no matter which launcher you use it will be still up to you to decide what short cuts if any or what widgets actually run on your screen.
do a search on youtube if you need an idea about what to run check out knoxville363 or you can just search for best apps it doesnt matter which phone we are all on droid.

how do you get the picture to fit your screen. can you get any image? is there a way to fit image to screen?

RaiderBoost I have had that picture for quite a while so it just kinda worked out, I use quickpic app on my phone basically when i select a picture it shows me an edit box that can be made larger or smaller depending on pic size to show just what part of picture will be viewed on screen. I have not had to edit picture size and i have used 480x600 sizes up to and including wallpapers i had for my pc which were 1600x1200.

here's a wallpaper in its original size saved to my sd card no editing( just noticed it was resized uploading to photobucket and resized again to show here none of which was my doing sorry,
but on my sd card its 1600x1200)
