Is the only overclocking app that is working on the Nexus SetCPU? Even though it's not listed as a supported device seems that what most are using. Just wondered, has anyone tested out any of the other OC apps...i.e Quickclock Advance or others?
Does the Nexus really need to be over clocked?
I think it runs great just the way it is.
It may not need to be overclocked but 350 max with a powersave governor when the screen is off is great for battery life. SetCPU is worth having for the ability to set that profile alone, IMO.
jbdan is correct the interactive governor will in fact set your phone to a slower speed when the screen is off, however I want to say it is 700 something and not 350. However Imo recommends not using a screen off profile with his kernels if you are using interactive or interactiveX. Also I'm not sure if people are aware of this but Imo's kernels (not sure who else does) has Hotplug built into interactiveX governor. For those that don't know what hotplug is, it shuts down one of the CPUs when the phone is asleep. It is actually a stand alone governor as well.
You are correct it is 700MHz and I love my 1.2 imo on interactiveX!

So, does IMO have battery saving already active (turned on...configured) in his kernel or do you still have to optimize it yourself with SetCPU?
I have only used SetCPU but I did try Voltage Control on my girlfriends phone and anytime I started it and adjusted anything it would reboot or freeze so so not use that for now even though its free. SetCPU cost money but its worth the $2 or whatever rather than having it all glitchy or broken but at least Voltage Control creates a CWM zip file to restore voltage.
Use setcpu to set the governor to InteractiveX and DO NOT change any mV values (voltages). Just try it for a couple of days and see what you think. It's UV'd out of the box, but if you feel the urge to tinker and the battery life still isn't cutting it for you then you have the option to tweak them. The default governor with 1.2.0 is Interactive. I can't remember what 1.2.1 and 1.3.0 is.
I was thinking I read somewhere that IMO was UV from within the kernel...I don't know how to check that and see what the actual values or reading are with it.
I have used QuickClock Advance extensively and Droid OC some, so I just have to learn how to use SetCPU now. Don't have a problem with the $2.00, just want to make sure it is going to make a difference in the battery life before I spring for that $2.00 since I already own all the other OC software (which will probably get updated to support the Nexus about the time I purchase SetCPU)...lol! All these apps add up after a while, especially if you're not using them.
One reason I really like QuickClock is it auto configures voltages and speeds.
Oh, it does, I've been getting very impressive battery life with LeanKernel 1.2 undervolted and using the interactiveX governor. I was at 60% after 7 or so hours of moderate use with LTE and wifi on the whole time.
SetCPU itself is very much worth the money, too. I haven't used any other program, but SetCPU has everything you need, and it's easy to use.
Is interacticeX govenor in LeanKernel or SetCPU?
InteractiveX is included in leankernel and setcpu just let's you change kernel governors
So, when you say its included, is it just in the kernel and not adjustable and SetCPU then lets you adjust it, but the kernel itself does not have any settings for adjusting it...it is already adjusted like it comes?
Yeah you have to have a way to change governors if you want to change it setCPU is a tool that will allow you to do that. Some roms have options to do this built in others do not.
Where be some instructions on doing this?
open setcpu, click on the pull down menu next to "scaling", choose your governor, enjoy!
Thanks! Got SetCPU installed. So, just selecting interactiveX handles the battery saving part? Again, never used SetCPU. I always used Quickclock Advance on my Droid X and it was great. It was real easy to use.
Each governor has different advantages and disadvantages. Look them up(my explanation probably wouldn't be as good as another one you'll find). I think imoseon went into great details about them at some point(don't have link, maybe someone else does?) For the gnex atm I would use interactiveX V2(if you're running lean kernel)
