I know the HTC seems better but the Samsung is quite new, the Incredible has been out for like a year now. I don't know which one to buy mainly due to the fact that both of them have no annoucements that they will be updated with Ice Cream Sandwich. I can get the HTC for

Hello Vincent. Have you had a chance to handle both devices "in person?" That's the way I decide between two or more I'm wondering about (after reading a bit around here for impressions, bugs etc). I'll just go to the store and play with them long enough to annoy the floor monkeys into asking me what I'm looking for, etc. ;)
Lmafao I do that sometimes as well :D, but I haven't had the chance to see the Incredible S in person. They put phones on those alarm thingys and sometimes when you touch them they go off xD Those salespeople are annoying and intimidating :(

The only thing the HTC has over the Galaxy W is that its easier to do updates.

But everything else is in favor of the Galaxy W.

It isn't just the hardware --- the Galaxy W has the better screen, more built in memory, better camera, faster processor and the bigger battery. But the software as well --- there has been less bugs, less surprises, less errors, less funny stuff that occurs with Samsungs of late. A year ago, I would have said go HTC and avoid Samsungs like the plague. Samsung has done a remarkable turnaround.

The Incredible S does look like a prettier and more stylish device though. That can be it for some people alone.

Not sure where the idea the Galaxy W has the better screen comes from when it is smaller (3.7" vs 4") and is also an LCD. Similarly, the HTC camera is higher resolution (8MP vs 5MP). As for memory, the HTC has more RAM, but less ROM.

A few positives for the Incredible S:
- keyboard has arrow keys and long-press for alternate characters on every key. Makes editing text and one-handed text entry a lot easier
- HTC media player has a "coverflow" style UI
- HTC mail client can support multiple Exchange accounts, and present a combined Gmail/Exchange inbox

I'll leave Galaxy W positives for an actual owner of that device.

IMO, if video and picture quality are that important, then a dedicated device should be used. Of course, priorities vary, hence my emphasis on text entry and mail :)
Lol well it all counts, everyone wants that super phone not the one that you go out with and take blurry embarrassing shots to post on facebook. Of course if the priorites are for email and text entry then a shitberry maybe handy :D;). Well I would go for the HTC ChaCha or Samsung Galaxy Pro because I'm pro  jks :p

Hehe but the screen is too small to view the pictures properly. The onscreen keyboard on the HTC Incredible S looks a little cramped to me on the portrait, the Samsung looks better spaced?

The Incredible S keyboard has more keys - specifically the four arrows. The Samsung also comes with Swype. I personally didn't like Swype on a 4" Fascinate, but other people love it. Try them yourself.

You can always download new keyboards. And if you wanted Swype, you can download it externally from their website. The extra screen size of the HTC would make the keyboard more comfortable. At least, that's what I'd presume.

Just out of curiosity, would the extra 400MHz on the Samsung make much a difference compared the the Incredible S?

Oh I never thought of that. Well I guess so when playing games and the benchmark score. I've heard the Sense UI can be quite laggy and many consider it as 'bloatware'? Which is why the Samsung Galaxy S2 is supposedly the fastest phone and many reviews/people who have always seemed to praise Apple claim it to be the iPhone killer

Those four touch navigation keys at the bottom? don't help with the text input though. I read your post further up but I don't know what you mean by that.

When editing a block of text, the arrow keys can be used for precise cursor placement. As I said before, try them for yourself.

I doubt most phones out there can beat my current Genio Slide for input. Touch screen and buttons its a little underpowered though

I thought you were looking at the relative merits of the Galaxy W and Incredible S?

Lol, you've got me debating with myself whether or not the 400MHz is going to make THAT much of a difference. I know they're extremely similar devices, but the size of the HTC's screen and the fact it uses Gorilla Glass makes me lean towards that. But at the same time, I've never seen the W in person, so I don't know how much the extra 0.3" make to the screen size. That and the fact I dunno what the quality of the screen is like on the W; whether the HTC is going to be more vibrant or not? I'm pretty sure the W uses an SLCD display, which is the same as the HTC, and is also cheaper. Even if I bought it on 3 and got it unlocked, it would still be cheaper than the HTC.

But then I don't know whether that's the right choice. Damn. Should have just settled on the HTC and bought that instead of reading this topic, haha!

EDIT; btw. check this video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ook2FAyxTyk

ignore what the guy is saying, and i know it's a comparison of the desire s and incredible s, but look at the screen size difference. the desire s's screen is the same size as the samsung galaxy w, and there is a noticeable difference between their sizes. so the 0.3" makes a difference. a fair difference.

Gorila glass is also a plus for a device. But it doesn't make the device completely scratch proof considering what they say about it. I have dropped a device onto gravel face down and it only suffered minor scratches if it hadn't been for gorila glass who knows it might have shattered:(. I guess I will be more careful with this Samsung and being its a little bit smaller it will be easier to hold. A good screen protector is probably better than Gorila Glass i suppose because it can be replaced easily. I will have to live with those minor scratch marks now. Taking into account the screen size of the HTC is bigger, it means it will have a lower pixel density because its the same resolution as the Samsung. I've looked at reviews of the Samsung and some say it has a poor quality and resolution etc because it doesn't have AMOLED display. Well I say LCD is better because you don't have to worry about 'burn in'. Samsung Galaxy W | Reviews | CNET UK The resolution is actually higher than the S2 so many reviewers can't even do their job properly .

Haha, I should be a technical salesperson xD. I looked at your thread you recently posted and I just want to correct you its a
