Help Retrieving pictures with a broken screen

Hi everyone. A few days ago I unfortunately cracked the screen on my Samsung Infuse. I'm getting a new one in a few days, but I have some pictures that I took over vacation on the hard drive of the phone and was wondering if there was any possible way I could get them off the phone.

Since the screen is broken, when I plug my phone into my computer I can't hit the button on the screen to allow my computer to view the files on my phone. Is there any way I can override this and try to get to these pictures? They're very important to me, and I want to try to get them off if possible. The buttons on the bottom of the phone still light up, and both the computer and phone recognize when they're plugged in. (The computer indicates that there are two drives added to my computer and the phone makes a sound whenever its plugged into the usb)

These pictures are saved on the hard drive of my phone, not my sd card, so please do not tell me to remove the sd card and find the photos that way.

Not sure if I understand. Sounds like you can see the drives on your computer. Are you able to just drag and drop the files from the phone to the computer? The images should be on one of those drives you see.

If it can recognize the 2 drives, open whichever is the phones internal storage. The folder is called DCIM. that will have all your pictures.

Oh thats tough. Try googling how to get adb working. I was going to do that with mine, but got it fixed lol. Using adb you can literally pull files off of it. Google it though, i can not give a good enough explanation. If you can not do that however, if your willing to pay a small amount of money (well idk if its that small) but you can keep your phone and use mobile tech world videos to get you a new screen. I had my infuse fixed there from a brick and a broken usb controller. Ill hook you up if you want it.

There is a special setting on the phone to allow the computer to completely connect with the phone and to view its internal storage. So, unless there's a way for me to press that button and allow connection (which I cannot do because my screen is broken) it will not allow my computer access to view the files.

Are you going to try adb? If not, ill hook you up if you want. And they are not a scam lol my dad was scared to death and i believed, and plop there was my phone perfectly running again. The company did a great job keeping me informed (it took a week to get there because it got there the day after Christmas ha). He was even so kind enough he tried changing the usb port (like twenty bucks) to see if that was a problem.

OK, well that was the part I didn't understand. You indicated in your original post that you were seeing two drives when you connected the phone to the computer. I didn't know how that could be happening.

The computer indicates that there are two new drives when I plug in the phone (G & I drives), but they don't show any of the files. I can take a screen shot if that makes it any clearer.

No, no need for a screenshot. All I was referring to is the fact that I don't even see the drives on my computer unless I complete the connection as a mass storage/usb device.

Sorry late response, i have been really busy. Anyways, yes that is. If you can whenever, you can just google it and look it up. Also you can google android terminology. Ive learned it pretty quick, and once you get the hang of it it makes perfect sense.

old post I know, but I just dropped my Samsung Captivate (rooted with debugging on) and internal screen cracked (gorilla glass is perfectly fine!), so I am in the same boat. After DAYS... actually DAYS of trying everything from every forum I FOUND A FIX!!!

Now admittedly, I am unsure which of these two (or both) fixed the issue, but here is what I did:

via Google Play's online "shop", I installed "Auto Mount Your SD Card" by JRTStudio (admittingly, unsure if this did anything as I cannot verify if it installed or anything via the phone)

then I DL'ed MoboRobo and after a few frustrated phone reboots, usb cable connections and much cursing IT CONNECTED!

I am currently DLing all my files from my broken phone!
I had to pass this along as I said... NOBODY seems to know about this as it has taken me DAYS to do this! Not even ATT (Current carrier) nor Spring (whom I am switching to in a month or so) could help me!

Can you get to:
Settings
Applications
Usb settings
Select mass storage

TheN the phone will act like a storage when you plug in to computer, without being any needing action on you phone.

of course if you can't get to these settings, it's no help
