Orange UK Sensation n00b help plz

Hi all, I just ordered the sensation xe from orange uk so it will be branded. I have heard there is a fair bit of orange bloatware on the device which I would like to remove, my questions are:

1. If I simply root the device will i be able to uninstall bloatware apps? or will i need to flash a new ROM? I'm not too bothered with keeping an orange ROM aslong as most the memory hogging bloatware is removed..

2. IF i flashed the official UK stock ROM (which tbh seems pretty complicated) would i still be able to download OVA updates without any trouble?

3. I have seen people post a Pyramid ROM? is that for the Sensation? (why not call it sensation XE rom?!)

Please any help would be appreciated and also please do not simply post those links to 's-off, clockwork, root, superCID' posts as I do not fully understand them. I am also worried about the Radio part of the flashing...

Please help as I cannot risk bricking the phone as I do not have insurance and please bear in mind it is the Sensation XE, I have seen lots of posts on xda and here by dev's but then further on into posts I see ROMS/radios are always being improved/updated so I am unsure which are the correct working/latest versions...

1. When rooted you can use Titanium to remove an apps you don't want. I'd highly recommend a custom ROM over this though as it will already be removed and there will be many more tweaks for performance

2. don't download any OTA updates when rooted. Again, i'd highly advise a custom ROM over rooted stock as above

3. Pyramid was the code name for the Sensation before it was released
