Root Looking for new ROM and Kernel, Have questions

So I have MikG 3.0 with Anthrax right now, Ive tried freedom and Anthrax on this rom, and from what I read battery life on sense roms just are not going to compare to AOSP roms. So I'm looking to possibly make a switch, even though I love this setup, the battery life just isnt there for me. Im lucky if I can get 8 hours out of a battery with moderate to heavy usage.

So my questions are, can anyone recommend a rom/kernel that supports hdmi out for things like streaming netflix from my phone to my tv. That's is what I mostly want to do with the phone as of right now, and Im not sure if all kernels/roms support that.

Just before anyone asks, I am plugged in while streaming, just regular things like texting, and surfing now and again seem to eat my battery alive.

Have you tried maxing out your battery life on sense first? Nothing against AOSP, but if you have your 4g radios on when your not in 4g being on AOSP isnt going to make a difference.

Things to try to help battery life:

Turn off Auto Screen Brightness and set it around 20-30%
Turn off haptic feedback
SetCPU screen off profile
Battery Calibration
Turn off WiFI & 4G when not in use
Use WiFi when available
Check your sync settings, I make sure news, stocks, ect arent syncing because I dont use them. Facebook I sync contacts and not live feed ext.

Also, if you find you can't live without sense (I can't), give Tommy's Evo Classic a try.

I would agree with RXpert.

Many users have great life with Mikg 3.0 and the Anthrax Kernel. What is your awake time? It seems that 3 hours of awake time on a charge is a very good day.

I know it's tough to put my phone down and that is what usually hurts me.

With a 2150 MAH battery I am at 36 hours and have 40% left right now on MikG 3.0.
I'll get 2 full days easily on this. Some have gotten 3 days on Tommy Tomatoe on a stock battery. (I believe it was Rxpert)

I can do about 3.5 days if I have wifi available to me most of the time.

It looks like I didnt even top off the charge that day, theres quite a bit of drop off right at the beginning. And thats using vibrate & haptic feedback. I allow myself some luxuries :p

(sorry for the relatively dated screenshot, I dont usually let the battery go that far down)

Ok Ive done most of this.. I Have my screen brightness turned way down normally, but i still notuice when I look at battery stats my display is eating like 60% of my battery or more? '

Haptic is off, how do I set screen off profile in SetCPU, I have it I just don't really know how to use it. I will read up on it. I use battery calibration, and I have green power that manages my wifi and data when my screen is turned off.

I did unsync all the news stocks and weather, so I will see if that helps. Thanks for the tips.

On a side not I did try CM7 and Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC yesterday and could not get the HDMI to work at all. So I ended up back with Mik, I love the ROM and Kernel, its really snappy, just hoping for better battery life.

In regards to SetCpu, I am running MikG 3.0 w/ Chop Suey 9.2.6. I use the InteractiveX Governor and DO NOT have a screen off profile set up.

My CPU min is 128mhz Max 729mhz.

With this setup the InteractiveX Governor will take care of the screen off times.
In SetCpu > info> time in state.

It will show you what speed the CPU is spending most of it's time at.
128mhz for me doesn't give me wake up lag for phone calls like I did on AOSP roms set that low.

If you run the ON Demand Governor then go to Profiles and set one up then check the box for the profile and also the box that says enable profiles for it to work.

What is green power? You never know , it could be doing you more harm than good. I never use juice defender or any of that stuff.

See, thats where I get kind of confused, im not sure on what governor to use, right now I have mine on conservative, at 998 max and 245 min.

On my screen off profile I have it set at 245 max, and 128 min, and that governor is set to ONdemand. Not sure what is best.

Green power is kind of like juice defender.. It manages the WIFI and Data, so basically while the screen is off it will turn off WIFI or Data automatically so its not constantly on draining the battery. When the screen comes back on, it turns it on again.

Should I not be using this? I know Ive always had good use out of it, before I got my evo and was on my old phone it did make a difference in my battery life. Not sure if its different now that Im rooted.

This is what its looking like so far, is my display, which is set almost at the lowest setting supposed to be eating up that much battery? less than an Hour and Im at 15 percent gone, granted I was expecting a quick 10 percent drop off, but 5 percent in less than an hour? Not really doing much on the phone.. I just restored back to Mik from CM7 last night, so maybe time to settle again?

Personally, I'm a fan of the Smartass governor. It just seems like interactiveX constantly jumps from my min to my max when I'm not really doing anything on the phone.

Also, I know you dont "need" a screen off profile, but I've posted up screenshots before where having the screen-off profile (128 min 422 max) on there results in much more time spent at 128mhz.

The Conservative Governor set that low must make it kind of slow. No?
Try the InteractiveX for a day or so and see what that does. Then disable your Profiles.
The Conservative I believe will run your CPU at 245 only. So things will take longer to do.
I may be wrong on that but it's what I've seen on my phone.

But how much Display on time do you have? With a Sense based Rom the Display will most times be the biggest battery hog. On AOSP it seems to be the Phone idle and standby. Not sure why but I always end up with similar battery life between them.

You will need to let it settle a little bit too after restoring it I think.

Ive also heard about smartass being a good one, I might try that. Do you also use smart ass on your screen off profile?

From what I understand with conservative is that, it will keep it low, until more load is put on the processor, once that happens it will kick it up, to meet with the increased load.

I have 29 min display on time right now, battery is down to 80 percent at just over 2 hours. I will give it time to settle for a few days with the tweaks and see what happens. Thanks for the help. :)

Yes, you generally use the same scaling for screen off profile that you use normally.

And every scaling setting (except performance) will keep the phone low until needed. They just differ on how "touchy" they are to ramp the CPU up and how fast they let it go back down.

You don't need a screen off profile with Smartass. It has a built in screen off profile so that when you have your screen off, the governor will keep your processor at whatever you have your minimum set to (default for this is 245). InteractiveX works exactly the same way. The difference between the two is that Smartass will not scale your CPU up or down as quickly as InteractiveX. I personally prefer InteractiveX because of the increased performance.
