Well so far, I haven't seen anything from CES that can really best the Nexus IMO!

Nope....Nothing! I see nothing packing lites out hardware, or software for that fact that match the Galaxy Nexus. Maybe its just me, but Gingerbread just looks ancient to me.

The Note? Seriously? Who really needs a phone that BIG? That thing is just plain ridiculous...

The only phone hardware wise that looks appealing is the New Sony Xperia S...

Otherwise....yawn...boring so far!

I've got some pretty Big paws...And I gotta say the Nexus is the absolute perfect size phone IMO....The Razr which was fairly wide and a little odd to handle, not huge to me at all, but just a little odd to handle, is basically small compared to the Note! I can't see luggin that thing around all day. Just my 2 cents...

There does come a point when a smartphone becomes a tablet that can make calls. Once you lose the ability to operate it one handed, it becomes the latter. I can't imagine handling a phone any bigger than the Galaxy Nexus one handed.

Not to mention that its rumored to go for 400$!!! Yes the screen is a bit smaller but honestly at that price point it seems like a good deal. Any opinions?

From phonearena's spec, it has low resolution (no 720p), no 4G, no NFC, lack sensors like gyroscope, barometer, compass.

If price was corned, they shoulda put 4430 and add those sensors especially NFC.

No, it's been known for quite some time that moto released the far better razr maxx in china at the same time they released the watered down razr here.

Based on the number of manufacturers coming to the Android game, I'm surprised we haven't seen hardware from Joe's Basement Hobby Shop yet.

Frankly, hardware is second in my mind right now to software. Yeah, we can root and ROM to perfection, but I'd rather not spend the time doing so. I'd rather have the freshest software from the official channels as soon as possible after the release from Google. If any of these manufacturers will commit to using vanilla Android, I'll be much more willing to pay attention. With ICS as polished as it is, I'm hoping we're nearing the time that manufacturers won't see the upside on the back end of a cost-benefit analysis and will push devices with unmolested Android.

Of course there's the potential that we'll never see some of these manufacturers with availability in the US, anyway...

I haven't been paying much attention, but I'd say from what I've seen, I'm not overly impressed with anything out there, either. Couple that with a healthy tempering of anything we see with a reminder of the Bionic, and there's little to get excited about.

I'm more interested in the Android tab market, I suppose.

the one in china i thought has a 720p screen as well, guess that didn't make it into the maxx over here. but yea i imagine there are alot that will be pissed not only because of the battery bump but some people probably would have liked to know there were other colors coming. not that the purple one looked all that great but the white one from a few weeks ago was pretty darn cool looking.

Yea no mention of the HD screen...which I don't get? Your going to re-release a phone and its #1 selling point is just a bigger battery then the reg Razr? In this day and age everyone wants more juice, so this battery should have been in the original Razr. I would understand more if Moto dropped the Maxx with a bigger battery, the HD screen , and maybe a better camera as well. Then it would make more sense to me...Foolery if u ask me..

MWC is definitely bigger for phone announcements, but CES is a forum for some companies to announce their phones as they did. Given this latest batch of phones was announced a month after the Galaxy Nexus was released, it's fair to compare them, even if more exciting phones are expected in February.

And I agree about ICS. At this point, it's insulting that phones set for release in weeks and months from now are being released with Gingerbread, and it does really bring Android's greatest weakness to the forefront - the fragmentation. This, however, is precisely why if a great phone has the newest Android OS on it, you buy it, because the major OS updates take forever.

Well in all honesty... nothing besides a Nexus will be rockin stock ICS...Which is why I can see myself only leaning towards the Nexus line for as long as I'm using an Android phone....No desire to own a phone with an over lay built into the UI anymore.

The one thing that's kinda sad about Android and being open source and free is that only phones on smaller carriers (Virgin, MetroPCS, Boost etc) are the ones that are usually vanilla Android. Outside of Nexi (?), every OEM and carrier wants branded crap.

Given that ICS is large, major upgrade from GB than GB was to Froyo, I'm not surprised that CES didn't bring any phones with it. If I recall correctly, CES last year showed most phones with Froyo. But MWC will show some with ICS probably. It's the first major phone party of year. I'm looking to Samsung's next flagship SGSIII to be announced there. And quad core phones from HTC too (Edge, Ville). But no idea what Moto will do after OMAP 4430.
